England test tour of Pakistan December 2022

Would like to set 350 really. Feels a bit stupid we’ve made a meal of it. Two run outs has nothing to do with Bazball as well. It’s just ****.

I didn’t even expect Pakistan to be all out when I woke up so although we could potentially be in a stronger position, hard to be anything but delighted at a 281 lead with two quality bats at the crease. Hopefully get the game as good as win first session tomorrow.

Just had it on the radio in the background today, but sounds like Pakistan were pretty flat in the field that final session. They need to come out firing in the morning. They're still in the game chasing 300 but this partnership can take it away from.

Waqar on TMS seemed as disappointed with the Pakistan performance as he was to note that his name is misspelled on the Waqar Younis stand at the ground.

Another excellent day for us, bowling Pakistan out for 202 will prove to be the turning point of the test.

Pleased for Leach - 100 wkts is a good achievement for an English finger spinner and at a good average as well.

He's taken a fair bit of stick at times but he's pretty resilient character and us far and away our best spinner.

Yeah with my Somerset hat on, it's a little ridiculous, Andy Jacobs on Talksport likes to think of himself as a cricket afficianado said he was our mystery spinner, mystery why he's picked, Oh I laughed.

I guess he just doesn't look a sportsman, but he's perfectly adequate, and as a spinner for us that's okay.

I'm not going to lie though he can leave the reverse sweep at home thanks.

Most England spinners are usually underrated when they're in the side and overrated when they're not.

I haven't seen a lot of hate for Leach really. Seems fairly popular to me.

I don't get the Leach hate. He isn't Swann but his record stands up well against Giles, Tufnell and Panesar who were all liked.
Not sure Giles was overly liked, but yeah, I will say it's easier for finger-spinners now ten it was in the age of Panesar, Tufnell, Emburey, Croft, Edmonds and co, but he's definitely the best spinner we have.

Leach has a couple of issues. Record against LHBs and not a threat without decent natural assistance even relative to other spinners which is a more pitch-dependent art than pace. But you’d think he averages 45 the way some go on. Overhated.

Apparently he is the 14th English bowler to take 100 test wickets since the start of the 2000s. I managed to come up with 11 of the other 13 and then kicked myself when I saw the other two.

Not Gough or Sidebottom, so that leaves 2 more. One is very recent, and I forgot him too. The other one's from 10-12 years ago.
