Mate, you have a low quality batting line up now.Even in 2019 with our low-quality batting line-up
You and me too mate. Actually, given the way we were heading, 'mediocrity' felt like something to aspire to. What was it, 1 win in 17 matches? Well beaten at home by both of our visitors in 2021. Feeble in the Ashes and in the Caribbean. Figuring that things would get even worse when Anderson and Broad inevitably called it a day and wondering how much more Root would feel able to take. Only putting up with Root's captaincy because we all knew there wasn't a viable alternative.Yeah it's all hard a bit hard to digest tbh.......not sure about the rest of the Eng fans here but id pretty much settled in on a prolonged period of mediocrity (again) just a few months ago. ......
Leave it to @chris.hinton broIt’s because we are the greatest
Fairplay mate enjoy the success of your team, ODI and T20 World Champions , 9 test wins out of the last 10 with an entertaining style ..It must be great to be an England fan !Even in 2019 with our low-quality batting line-up, Smith in God mode and Anderson out they could only manage a draw, and that’s with them hanging on for dear life in the one drawn Test. Put your house on 4 or 5 zilch, weather permitting.
That someone was the Pak captain. What’s this about someone saying Pakistan dominated?
Yes. Yes it is.Fairplay mate enjoy the success of your team, ODI and T20 World Champions , 9 test wins out of the last 10 with an entertaining style ..It must be great to be an England fan !
Root, Stokes, Bairstow, Brook, Pat Cummins goes to bed shaking at the prospect of them killing his averageMate, you have a low quality batting line up now.
Yeah then when we bowl it is Broads bunny on strike. Think we will be fine.I can see Pat Cummins turning at the top of his mark on the first day of the upcoming Ashes series, Duke ball in hand on a green sward with clouds over head, looking up and quaking in his boots as he sees [checks notes] 29-averaging Parramatta second grader Ben Duckett marking out his guard with proven successes against Australia in Zac Crawley and Ollie Pope at the non-striker's end and padded up at three respectively.
I hope he'll be ok.

I would suggest that the main point that you're missing is that England's poor form pre Stokes and McCullum wasn't limited to the winter tours that immediately preceded them. We had become increasingly poor at home too. Whereas the 2018 side had not come close to losing a home series for ages, the 2021 losses could easily have happened in 2020 and 2019 without the once-in-a-lifetime partnerships between Buttler/Woakes and Stokes/Leach respectively. Basically the team was in what looked like terminal decline before Stokes and BMac took over and, to date, that has been turned around. The may still lose to Australia next summer of course; our visitors are a very fine side and ours is sill flawed. But that wouldn't negate the achievements of the last 8 months. The cricket from England this year has been fascinating and phenomenally engaging which I think has made people assume the results are too and that's... not quite the case?
This is the best season and a half England cricket has had since the far off halcyon days of... 2018. They came off a disasterous away Ashes followed by another shocking spring tour to NZ, then had a winning summer which included a 4-1 win over India and in the autumn whitewashed Sri Lanka away. It's not a million miles away, is it?
I'm excited for what this team can do, but let's not pretend England never won a test series before Brendon McCullum taught them how to play.
What makes you think he'll* be there?Yeah then when we bowl it is Broads bunny on strike. Think we will be fine.
Is Warner's place really in doubt? Agreed that there are question marks about Broad, but he'll probably start ahead of Wood as the series is being played in England. What makes you think he'll* be there?
*possibly applies to both of them
