Carse is arse.Carse will still be injured.
Tough for him but was anyone ever expecting him to play for England again?Olly Stone out for the Test summer, could have done without that
...or at all.was anyone ever expecting him to play for England again?
Behind even Potts in the pecking order, but with everyone else dropping like flies or only just now coming back to fitness, he would have had a chance of getting a gameTough for him but was anyone ever expecting him to play for England again?
Get him fit and in the right headspace and he's the best seamer we have, comfortably.Robinson taken 2-15 this morning with 2 drops. He’s been very good on a pretty flat pitch.
We've got a separate thread for this.....bit disappointing for a Mod to post this over an hour before the separate thread was created.Brook captain for ODIs & T20Is then.
Not sure it's either what's best for him or for the teams tbh. But, err, congrats and gl to the lad I guess!
Has he managed to maintain his form throughout the innings, because that has been the issue for himGet him fit and in the right headspace and he's the best seamer we have, comfortably.
It’s been injuries rather than his face not fitting which has caused him not to play, so yeah, if he’s fit, he plays (even more so with the injuries we have to other seamers!)As long as Josh Tongue stays fit I think he plays for England a lot this summer. Very impressive.
No matter how well Carson, Banton and Robinson do, is there a place in the team for them? In Carson’s case, Bashir has been given an extended go in the team for…reasons (albeit with limited success), Robinson seems to have burned bridges, and in Banton’s case, the middle order seems very settled, so unless he fancies a go in the top 3, is there a space available for him? Speaking of the top order, McKinney didn’t get many runs against Notts, but did well in Australia this winter, and Rob Yates (who didn’t play in Australia but did impress against Sri Lanka last summer) did get runs, and at a quick pace too, if England do lose patience with Crawley and/or Pope, how far are they from a call-up?A few players on the periphery impressing in this round of games, notably Tongue, Carson and Banton. Robinson had one excellent spell with an older ball, but it was on a pitch offering precious little to the seamers (or anyone really) and not a lot else happened. Carson got Hamza with a beauty yesterday. But the return of Tongue would seem to be the main England plus point from these games and as @Durham Fan says, surely plays for England this Summer at some point if he stays fit.
Surely, England have to have a thought about a spinner who could come in and do a job if Bashir obviously isn't. Leach will be fine for English and Asian conditions), but you probably do need a different option for the winter. With Carson doing well, at least there might be a plausible option if they do finally decide that Bashir no longer merits it. Re an alternative opener, we live in hope that at least one English qualified player serves up some sign of being fit for purpose should Crawley continue to struggle. No matter how well Carson, Banton and Robinson do, is there a place in the team for them? I presume that Bethell is still next in line for the Number 3 spot, and with Brook now ODI skipper, you could easily see him taking the VC role over Pope if/when he needs to be dropped. Although, Bethell sitting on his backside somewhere in India at the mo is hardly helping his credentials. No matter how well Carson, Banton and Robinson do, is there a place in the team for them? It’s because he’s tall isn’t it? He might be a good bowler in time, but like Josh Hull, he doesn’t have to be parachuted into the team before he’s ready simply because of his physical attributesI presume that Bethell is still next in line for the Number 3 spot, and with Brook now ODI skipper, you could easily see him taking the VC role over Pope if/when he needs to be dropped. I'd really like to know what the 'reasons' are for Bashir's continued selection.
