I believe his father also funded a Winter in Aus so he could play Grade Cricket there too. He's certainly not been short of opportunities, time to repay them.
Played for Sydney CC. Disappoints me that he may at one point gave traduced the hallowed turf of Birchgrove Oval.

If it ever comes out that Crawley has essentially bought his international place, then every person involved should be paraded at every Blast game not at Canterbury for the crowd to through rotten veg, dead animals and small pieces of masonry.

But saying that, the Crawley and Foakes issues are separate. England would be a weaker side if they moved another player to open in order to squeeze in Foakes. It's Crawley vs another opener and Bairstow vs Foakes.

Really couldn't disagree with this more. The best top 7 we can field is Duckett, Pope, Root, Bairstow, Brook, Stokes and Foakes.......just work out an order for that lot.

Whichever way you spin it, include Crawley and leave out Foakes it's just a weaker side.

But if you compare it to last year, the only real change is Brook for Foakes. Does that make us weaker than when we were winning all those matches?

All the talk about Foakes and keeping, I believe that Bairstow actually has a better catch percentage.

We get angry over having a specialist keeper or not but willing to shove anyone up to open.

Yeah crawleys stats here were very decent for sure. Sydney is usually a pretty strong club too. Often thereabouts come finals time.

You seem like a nice bloke and all but you need to put context behind stats mate.

When Aus dicks Pakistan and WI 5-0 in the upcoming summer it won’t mean they’re suddenly better than they were when they lost 2-1 in India. It will just mean their opposition was borderline special needs like England’s has been the past little while before they get destroyed by australia this summer.

Same with Bairstow’s keeping vs Foakes - you’d have to be visually impaired to think YJB’s glove work is in the same ball park as the other fella’s.

It's interesting that you call the current World Test Champions 'borderline special needs', who were fortunate to avoid losing 5 on the bounce to England. I'll accept that SA batting is a joke, but India weren't. And on the roads in Pakistan, forcing 3 results was 2 more than Aus managed.

Bairstow's keeping may not be as tidy as Foakes, but he doesn't miss the ones that count.

Just out of interest, what is the team Aus would least like to see coming out to face them? I'm guessing you'd be moving someone up to open (Pope) and slotting Bairstow back in at 5.

Make Foakes Captain, Root is done

Stokes would be captain if he was fit to bowl and stopped being a slogger under Bazball ?
I think you underestimate the influence Stokes has on the team as captain. I suspect if he has to play as a batsman only he may become even more dangerous to the opposition.

I'm not quite sure who it is, but England should play the best possible keeper they have. It's too important a position over a long series not to.
Trying to squeeze in a less competent keeper just because they bat a bit better will likely have severe consequences at the end of the day.

Didn't you hear, Stokes said Foakes is the best keeper in the World....not in the team though
