Why does it?

Because they cancelled a series claiming "tired" with no mention of a replacement series?

How is criticising that "wasted breath"?

Because the break they are having now is the first major one since 1999. They have played such good cricket over the past 2 years that they were probably genuinely tired. Why does this need justification?

They had a good 4 month rest last season after which Zaheer hasn't been the same bowler anymore :p

I have always been a great fan of the NatWest Series but I feel that the best idea for next summer would be to do without it for a season. Certainly I can't see the point in 3 Aus-Ban games, they'll cost more to lay on than they'll recoup. I'd prefer the Bangladesh games to be done with by early June then Australia to have 5 ODIs and 5 Tests.
This NatWest Challenge anyway is pushing it. Just when they'd got it perfect (7 Tests, 10 ODIs) they're nudging it over the edge. 13 ODIs, plus the Champions Trophy after the season this year, is too much. Thank God the Zimbabwe Tests have been cancelled.

And before this series I'd have agreed with you, but for some reason he's beginning to get it right in ODI's as well.

To be honest, he would need some bowling between Test Series anyway, so keeping him in the squad makes sense from that point of view (so long as they give him a break in one of the games)

would it not have been better to have rested him for the first 4 games and then bring him back towards the end of the series?
hes been bowling pretty much continuously since the test series in the carribean and theres still plenty of cricket left this summer!

I think there's 2 weeks between the Natwest Final (if we get there) and the West Indies series.
