England calls off tour....

Care to elaborate? I appreciate what your argument will be, but it was the state of emergency and the townships becoming ungovernable that brought down apartheid, not a bunch of middle aged men in flannels..
You are implicitly condoning the behavior. I wouldn't be friends with a murderer for the same reason. Apartheid did that, and much worse. You are playing a team that is a direct result of the ideals of that society, and you are absolutely sending a message if you tour. It is irrelevant what brought down the apartheid and whether cricket had anything to do with it (It didn't). It doesn't mean this specific action will cause a change in behavior, but I don't see how you can look at the vast majority of black South Africans in the eye if you toured South Africa during apartheid. What message are you sending them?

I would have done my best to ensure sure every player who toured got a lifetime ban from cricket.

Sigh.

England return would be a positive for subcontinent - PCB

PCB Chairman warns of divide (if England don't tour India)

Some statements of note from people actually associated with PCB on whether England should tour:

"Miandad, a former Pakistan captain, said he hoped that India was not isolated in international cricket, given that the ODI series against England was curtailed, the two-Test series hangs in the balance and the Champions League scheduled for December 3-10 has been postponed."

"[Shoaib Malik]was also hopeful that England would return to India for the Tests which would not only "be a very good decision" but would also ensure that cricket continued, even during these troubled times."
Your post will be a fine rejoinder if you remove the Miandad bit (you know why).

Its not Miandad fault that his son fell in love with Dawood daughter and went on to marry her. It's not like Javiad told him to get this bird just to piss of the Indians (atleast I hope he did not)

this may surprise you but i agree with Longeveldt here
I also think that some of the players from england side has been pressured to tour India... i say that simply because i read the news afew days ago that five top england players won't tour india anytime soon.. and now we see all of the team back.. something is fishy..but again with the power of BCCI and knowing that ICC is in BCCI's side.. this didn't come as surpprise.. i just hope we hear about it in a few years when some of the english players retire from cricket and start writing thier biogrophies..they will tell us he reality behind this tour..

Perhaps, but it's not like he's disowned Dawood or condemned his actions either (like bin Laden's family has, as an e.g.). Guilt by association is not due process and nobody is suggesting putting Miandad on an interpol list. But it is very disingenuous of him to mouth platitudes like this without first distancing himself from his extended family and their extremely dubious doings.

( Dawood Ibrahim is a key architect of the criminal-terrorist nexus and is how Al Qaeida and LeT channel money in and out, especially after 9/11. )

We have no info about their what type of relationship they maintain usually in Pakistan inlaws are mostly at logger heads with each other:laugh:

Maybe Javaid doesn't want to take confrontation with a dangerous guy like Dawood as he obviously doesn't enjoy state provided safety like bin-laden faimily. He has distanced himself well I feel sine I've never heard him talk about Dawood in public. I feel this relationship is a non issue which you are looking ion to too seriously.

Xuhaib, seriously impressed with your abilities to spin a yarn, but
the potrait you are painting is contrary to all of these:

Any way , back to topic: if other teams will not tour India, I would rather have BCCI focus on making the domestic circuit more competetive, than in sustaining half a cricket world.

Never followed their relationship closely so had no idea what sort of relationship they maintain but still I don't see how this should effect PCB and BCCI relationship, its not like Javaid has some criminal record linked with his name or he has been an accomplice to Dawood in some of his crimes.

It doesnt affect PCB-BCCI relationship and in fact these cricket boards, in their otherwise perverted pursuit of self-interest, may just have made a template for other aspects of Indo-Pak relationship. If you go back to the post I was responding to, the comment was actually that it was a good rejoinder bar the one quote from Miandad.

Miandad is not a criminal (also said that explicitly). However his proclamations of camraderie ring very hollow given his extended family has funded and organized multiple terrorist attacks on Mumbai.
