You are implicitly condoning the behavior. I wouldn't be friends with a murderer for the same reason. Apartheid did that, and much worse. You are playing a team that is a direct result of the ideals of that society, and you are absolutely sending a message if you tour. It is irrelevant what brought down the apartheid and whether cricket had anything to do with it (It didn't). It doesn't mean this specific action will cause a change in behavior, but I don't see how you can look at the vast majority of black South Africans in the eye if you toured South Africa during apartheid. What message are you sending them?Care to elaborate? I appreciate what your argument will be, but it was the state of emergency and the townships becoming ungovernable that brought down apartheid, not a bunch of middle aged men in flannels..
I would have done my best to ensure sure every player who toured got a lifetime ban from cricket.
