Does anyone have any footage of the 98 series, Australia in India? I remember watching it but haven’t seen too many highlights online? Looking for the highlights of these backfoot drives Tendulkar played off the quicks. I reckon they’re the best cricket shots I’ve ever seen.

Viv is one of my favs but he was neither a technician or elegant IMO

Guy was just brutal & brilliant

He's got to be the clunkiest, least aesthetic batsman I've ever seen. IMO the opposite of this thread.

Martyn, M Waugh, Laxman, Ian Bell, for me
I think his cover driving was pretty easy ont he eye, but yeah he wasn't a patch on the likes of VVS (especially), Tendulkar or even Dravid in the elegant stakes imo.

Nathan Astle when he got it right looked decent but the sound he got off his bats were great. Could time them like no other when in form

I purposefully left Dravid out and Dravid IMO was easier on the eye than Sachin. From that generation of Indians, VVS wins the elegance medal without a doubt.

yeah Laxman was so languid. Great to watch. I agree generally re Dravid being more elegant than tendulkar, but I'm trying to find these backfoot drives from the 98 series, man. They were just pure technique and timing.

Brian Lara, Mark Waugh, Aravinda De Silva and Sachin Tendulkar from the people I have watched. Recently, I liked watching Carey bat.

ooh yes don't know why he hasn't been mentioned yet. Nothing better than a Vaughan cover drive or pull shot
I remember reading an article several years ago that said Vaughan played each ball exactly to its merit. And he got out if the ball merited it :)
