I can remember when George was part of the all conquering Phili team. Do you mean Paul Beaney? Back in 77 at Wednesday night net practice at Ropery Lane under the watchful eye of Durham legend Alec Coxon I made the almost fateful error of any naive 13 year old by hitting Beaney (bowling gentle spin at me ) back over his head three times. He immediately switched to his..erm..more lively pace. Don't think I saw the next three.I'll raise you George Bull and Paul Besney
I can recall about 1978 he suddenly became a decent lower order batsman. Only had one shot (think a DSL version of Graham Dilley) but it was very effective.2 game team mate of mine at the end of the 1984 season
That's nice to knowOnions would still do a job for us![]()

That’s right. I met Stephen when Ray got us freebies to watch Durham playing Leicestershire at at DarlingtonI'm sure Ray Peel played for Sacriston and
Kimblesworth as well . His brother Stephen.
started off at Sacriston and then went to Durham City to form a class bowling attack alongside the legendary Brian Lander and fellow City stalwart Gary Hulme . Also played for the very strong County side
Was a year above at FMCS .Older brother Tom was a decent wicket keeper batsman who also started at Sacriston, then Wearmouth and Shotley Bridge. His son Philip also was talented and played for SB and the TSL league sides .. Tom's wife Pauline played a massive role in developing girls and ladies cricket. She played for the County ladies and might still be involved with the Durham Cricket Board
