Come back when the season starts, we’re all still thawing out. With no respect at all, knob end, it's an open thread and forum.
I'd erroneously thought there might be a few insights into the County cricket scene as the season gets underway, but it's just a 36 page (and counting) circle jerk.
96 for 3.
I wouldn't rush McKinney. Opening is hard and he needs a couple of seasons of runscoring in CC1 rather than just selecting on potential. Did Minto get injured in the Zim game? Bowler six overs and got three wickets and not seen again. This kid McKinney could be our next player to go to England
don’t think he is in the frame for India or the Aussies away but next season could see him given an opportunity
one thing I read the other day was about Will Smeed of Somerset who had went all in for white ball riches but has now signed to a red ball contract this coming summer for them
the lad has talent so it will be interesting to see how he goes in the CC this summer
Don’t think it was anything serious , just a precautionI wouldn't rush McKinney. Opening is hard and he needs a couple of seasons of runscoring in CC1 rather than just selecting on potential. Did Minto get injured in the Zim game? Bowler six overs and got three wickets and not seen again.
The noises coming from the national media and those close to the setup is that they have McKinney lined up as their next opener, presumably when they finally get rid of Crawley.Don’t think it was anything serious , just a precaution
re McKinney that’s virtually what I said about the lad
Agreed . Another year for Durham and then next season maybe the time to allow him to give it a good goThe noises coming from the national media and those close to the setup is that they have McKinney lined up as their next opener, presumably when they finally get rid of Crawley.
Personally I think it's too early for him, especially if they throw him into an India or Ashes series, but they have form for fast tracking those who they believe can cut it at international level.
There's 5/6 rounds of CC fixtures before that Zimbabwe test, so if McKinney starts well and Crawley continues his poor form they might be tempted to make that change. But who knows with this England setup, I just expect them to go with the left field option every time now.Agreed . Another year for Durham and then next season maybe the time to allow him to give it a good go
so with england he’ll be playing the first test![]()
