International Regular
Seems a bit of waste that we declared in the end. A days play effectively wasted.

But I know Campbell mindset is to win rather than just play for the hell of it. So I get why too.

Practice as hard as you'd play.

I'm contacting @The Red Telephone later for him to drop in at CLS cricket club and see if the Horner and Tom Burn cups still operate . And if so put in a late entry for Zimbabwe A as part of their cricketing experience and education
Don't know but I think there's a photo of the team in there from 1980 with the DSL, Tom Burn, Horner and Sanders Cups- one of their better years. Captained by NC Allison with R Harrison resplendent with flowing locks and wk pads on.

The Horner and Tom Burn cups were recognised as 2 of the major cups in the region, Thus the Sunday afternoon finals were well supported and especially the renowned bait hut and the chippy around the corner and on the roadside

As a last minute fixture to enhance Durham's preseason preparations I'm in negotiations with the club to play an eight a side 16 overs game .In line with the old U/13 regulations there will be 4 batting combinations, each batting 4 overs . Bowling will see all 7 fielders having a least 1 over but no more 3 each. Each team will start with 200 with 10 runs deducted for the loss of each wicket.Runs scored will be added to the total. The following 8 players have been selected for the proposed game
1 Brandon captain
2 Muchy vice- captain
3 Aidan
4 Steve Greensword Fan Club
5 DL Gréener Fan Club
6 Silly Point
7 Inside Forward
8 Durham Fan
Hopefully Carty joins the party as and when

On another subject I see Syed Abid Ali died on Wednesday aged 83 and, as anyone of a certain age or reader of 'Rain Men' will know, was responsible for reducing England to 41-4 in the 1971 Old Trafford Test......and he wasn't even a member of the 'Fab Four Spinners!!

When CLS played Phili in the Tom Burn Final in 1977 at Ropery Lane it was packed. The Leics Jumper Man caught on the boundary by David Sweeney for 0 if my memory serves me right.:D

Spoke to David at the Yorks 2nds game at Burnopfied last year. He contributes regularly on the excellent old Northumberland Durham and Tyneside cricket photos site on Facebook. A true stalwart at the Hobson
