Durham Cricket are pleased to announce Australian seamer Brendan Doggett will join the Club for the initial stages of the Rothesay County Championship.
Doggett has signed on a deal to play for the county throughout April and May and will be available for selection from Durham’s opening home fixture against Warwickshire in Chester le Street on Friday 11 April.
The 30-year-old, right-armer, who plays his domestic cricket with South Australia has made 43 first-class appearances claiming 155 wickets in the process with an economy of three.
A regular with Australia A – Doggett has impressed when on international duty claiming his first-class best of 6/15 against India A and was recently in action against England Lions, where he claimed 4 wickets in the match.
Having started his domestic career with Queensland, Doggett picked up 4 wickets on first-class debut and bagged five wickets in the 2017/18 Sheffield Shield final against Tasmania.
A towering fast bowler, Doggett has enjoyed Sheffield Shield trophy success on two occasions and earned his maiden Test call up for Australia’s tour of the UAE against Pakistan in 2018.
A seamer with raw pace, Doggett plays for BBL side Adelaide Strikers and has also featured for Brisbane Heat and Sydney Thunder in Australia’s domestic T20.
Brendan Doggett said: “I am very excited and grateful for the opportunity to join Durham Cricket. I can’t wait to get over there and meet the team and everyone at the club.”
Marcus North, Director of Cricket, said: “It is great to have recruited an experienced red ball player in Brendan to Durham for the opening part of the season.
“Whilst we can only secure his services on a short-term basis due to visa restrictions, Brendan has been in outstanding from this season for South Australia in the Sheffield Shield and for Australia A.
“He is the perfect fit for us to further strengthen our strong seam attack in the first few months of the County Championship
