Draft idea: Silent auction

AndrewB

International Vice-Captain
I don't think spinners are all that hard to get and there are certainly enough good ones to fill 7 teams. Agree about openers though; there aren't that many great ones. Managed to snag Len Hutton for a reasonably low bid in the first round.

A $1 bid would have been enough to secure Tendulkar in round 1, and that's just mind blowing IMO. I think auction drafts probably work better with a more restricted player list. I assumed at least one person would bid 990K on Bradman and fill in the rest of their team with decent players, so it's astounding that weldone managed Bradman, Sobers, Gilchrist, Warne, Steyn, Garner, etc. It's an auto win for him really.
I did wonder about a similar type of draft but with the 11 players to bid for specified for each round.

Should I push Sobers higher up the order? What do people think about possible 4-5-6 in my team? I am open-minded in that aspect here.

You can play Kallis at 5. Not sure if Hammond played at 5 much?

And you really don't need to mark 7 bowlers when your top 5 are so good :p

Both Headley and Hammond were mammoth @ No.3, averaging staggering 70+. Kallis averaged 61 and played @ No.4 but can be shifted to 5 as you mentioned.

Batting order will be...

Hobbs
Gavaskar
Headley
Hammond
Kallis
Worrell
Lindsey

Marshall
Laker
Holding
Ambrose

Can do - I think marc71178 still needs to confirm his batting order.

With only 7 teams involved, should it be "choose the best two teams" rather than the usual three?

Maximum 2 imo, even 1 can work with this small number of participants

can't wait for this voting - have never won a draft, feels like this is the first time I may at least come close
