Donald's coaching future

robelinda

That sad to be honest. NZ are a team that need the big help from former greats, Donald just couldnt reject the opportunity to coach with his home team i guess, understandable. Still sad though.

South Africa need a bowling coach? What's he going to say to Steyn, "Hey man, you're quite likely to be as good as me if not better so...um...keep bowling?"

No doubt we'll get some useless ****. Probably the ex-Australian bowling coach, who can teach Southee to bowl the Hilfenhaus length.

Elevate Bond! /fanboy
 TBF, Steyn could go from brilliant to downright scary if he starts bringing the ball in like Donald.. Morkel also has a fair amount of room for improvement and their third seamer spot is up in the air as well.

If Tahir turns out to be brilliant as well (big if), SA could become the dominant team of this generation.

If they get a decent third seamer and Morkel fulfills his potential (read: stops bowling garbage every now and then), then that's a scary team. Seriously scary.

Hey, at least we can take satisfaction that, for all their star coaching appointments, none of them have won a world cup knock out match.

Really disappointing news.
While I agree it's disappointing not to retain someone of Donald's pedigree his so called influence on the New Zealand team (and Tim Southee) during his three month stint is being vastly overrated by the media and general cricketing public IMO.
