The Battlers Prince

International Vice-Captain
Post no.9 in this thread on the first page has the attached excel file with all the data.
Thanks a whole heap DoG, I was worried that was the case. When I tried looking it up I couldn't find anything else beyond 1912, but its ok. I still found that small snippet a great exercise of the sides back then. Looking forward to your list of bowlers to come.
EDIT forget it sorted it out! Wow some amazing analysis there

England has overtaken New Zealand, who have fallen from no.3 to no.5. The results of England-India and Australia-Sri Lanka will determine who takes no.1. I update the rankings after every series, rather than every match.

Don't always agree with your outcomes, but this intuitively feels about right.

Just for clarity, how was the gap between India vs Australia prior to the series?

Before the series, Australia had 131.75 and India had 127.87. Even if India had won 3-0, it would have only boosted their score to 130.36, such was the massive difference between India and New Zealand.

How the formula works:
Win: 2.50
Draw: 0.00
Loss -2.50

Points adjusted by the difference between the two teams:
Points + Difference *-0.05

When the difference between the two teams is 40.00 or more:
Maximum points for wins: 4.50
Minimum points for wins: 0.50
Minimum points for losses: -4.50
Maximum points for losses: -0.50
Minimum points for draws: -2:00
Maximum points for draws: 2.00

Before the series, India had 127.87 points, New Zealand 104.45. Add 5 points to India and subtract 5 points from New Zealand because India were playing at home. The difference was therefore 33.43.

For India:
Three losses -2.50 + (33.43 *-0.05) = -12.51 *3 =-12.51

For New Zealand:

Three wins 2.50 + (-33.43 *-0.05) = 4.17 * 3 = 12.51

Thanks mate, great work as always
