Do you believe slip fielding should factor in to your selection of an ATG XI that you intend to take the field

In general it doesn’t factor much for me because as someone said earlier in the thread we’re lucky that most of the ATG batsmen were high quality fielders.

Don't think it's about luck tbh. The very best batters are likely to be the very best fielders.

Hobbs, Hutton, Bradman, Tendulkar.

Even Richards and Warne wasn't especially renowned, so it's not a given. Of the elite guys only Sobers is a given for the first team, though Sunil is functional as well.
Chappell, Lara, Smith, Hammond all fall short of 1st team selection.

I wouldn't say that's really been the case. Looking through the ATG bats a lot of them are serviceable fielders at best, not elite like Jonty Rhodes, Symonds, Paul Collingwood etc.

Definitely more crossover when you're talking about elite slip fielders, who are far more valuable in Tests than those guys.
