Diminishing Draft

2 questions;

Will round 2 be a reverse of round 1?
Does the wicketkeeper have to bat in the top 7, or can he bat lower (and perhaps be the 11th pick)?

@CricAddict it will be perfectly valid to pick in 11th round someone who has say 8k runs but <10 wicket and play in top order, or pick someone with 300 test wickets but <1000 runs and play as main bowler?

Sorry for outing what might be strategy of half of us at this point :D

I interpreted the rule as if you pick someone on diminishing runs they need to bat in the top 7, and if you pick on diminishing wkts they must bat in the bottom 4.

@CricAddict I agree with @Teuton's interpretation. Thus allrounders like Hadlee, Pollock and Imran would probably be selected as bowlers while Kallis and Sobers as batsmen. If the other way round future selections would be more restricted. Perhaps participants should nominate if batsman or bowler in such cases.

Yes. Teuton's rule is good. We can go with that too mitigate the strategic 11th pick a little bit.

Ha ha. Shortpitched indirectly indicated that a few posts back. But let us go with what Teuton has said, for the 11th pick.

So, this basically also means your keeper cannot bat below the top 7. Hope that is fine for all.

Bottom 5? Because we are allowed to pick 5 bowlers attack.
Yes. If you are picking on the basis of wickets, you will have to keep the player from 7-11 and if you are picking on the basis of runs, it will be 1-7. So, 7th position alone can be any one. But if you get tricky, you will be playing that player way out of position at 7 which could weigh in the voting.
