Yes, this is getting so tough. Get atvg at lower runs and risk losing couple of decent batsmen at the top or risk losing the atvgs with low run count.. Having to make tough decisions on this. At least I don't have to worry about the wickets side now..These last 3 rounds are going to be extremely difficult. Was hoping to get a sneaky Labuschagne pick in a later round, but clearly both not as sneaky of a pick, and far too late with that one. Ah well.
This pick is on Runs btw, in case people are wondering.
I could have picked Labuschagne instead of Dudley Nourse. Thought did cross. Did I do the right thing? ?These last 3 rounds are going to be extremely difficult. Nourse > Labu, imhoI could have picked Labuschagne instead of Dudley Nourse. Thought did cross. Did I do the right thing? ?
Thing though is that to have played as many tests as he has, he would have 8-10 year career compared to some 3 years he actually has. That's the reason why sample size thresholds are lower for older era players. If Labuschagne was from Apartheid era South Africa, and had the exact same stats (actually would have been better a few Tests back when his average was still over 60), some here might be proclaiming him among the ATGs already, and worshiping the ground he walks on.
You're right, but in Pollock's case in particular, he actually had a very curtailed Test career, even by the standards of the time. But it's just enough to meet the 20 Tests criteria that many people deem to be the minimum.Thing though is that to have played as many tests as he has, he would have 8-10 year career compared to some 3 years he actually has. Nourse also had years robbed due to world war.
Nourse > Pollock is obviously the correct takeYou're right, but in Pollock's case in particular, he actually had a very curtailed Test career, even by the standards of the time. But it's just enough to meet the 20 Tests criteria that many people deem to be the minimum.
Edit: Just to be clear, I wasn't referring to Nourse in making this comparison with Labuschagne. It's specifically Pollock that I had in mind as the most famous case of an Apartheid SA era player with limited Test stats, imo being blown out of proportion. Apologies for any confusion.
