Debuts & Retirements draft

It's interesting Sobers' career started the year Headley's finished and so on for Viv with Sobers. Lara was out by one year for Viv which would have been truly uncanny

Have to take a detour or two to get back on track. I can't catch AZT and co, but at least I can make an interesting team.

Hon. Lionel Tennyson (1913 to 1921) - former captain of Hampshire and England.

The honourable Lionel Tennyson, grandson of the poet and himself later to become Lord Tennyson, was among the most distinctive and memorable characters the game has ever seen.

It was often said that he did not behave in the manner expected from a peer of the realm.

On the field, he was a charismatic team captain and hard-hitting batsman. Off the field his appetite for the high life, substantial gambling losses and relentless womanizing would have been a godsend to todays's tabloids.

Back to AZT who is in the enviable position of deciding whether to pick Keith Miller or not.

i was partly hoping me leaving Sobers to the masses would result in half the draft leaping over each other to reach him and sabotaging their teams in the process(except for the person who got him)

i was so close to going for Frank Tyson and then someone random from '59 to 63 instead of just straight from '54 to '63 with keith andrew. Glad I didn't get greedy as jimmy has hit '63 just as I left it. Might have missed out on Pollock and the next 2 big names after him and completely stuffed my team up

Ooof, look at that bowling attack. Judging by the teams we'll be facing, we will be spending a lot of time in the field. Lovely. Will have rightly earned our namesake.

Very much not set in stone, Rhodes may end up in the tail who knows, Andrew might end up lower than 8 he averaged 13 with the Bat in FC. I'm kinda playing it by ear from here on out. Just wanted to nab the Barry/Pollock double

Whatever it takes!!!
Sid Barnes (1938 - 1948)

A wonderful opener and a decent legspinner if things get dire for the rest of the bowling attack. My kinda player. :)

Many thanks to everyone who kept the draft rolling along in my absence. Unfortunately it does indeed seem that Coronis had bowed out of the draft, sad to you see also go bud.

As for the Freeman/Mitchell issue, after checking it again I can confirm the Freeman retired in 1929, which was the year of Mitchell's debut, & so Howe's selections are legit.

Finally, mr_mister, you bastard! You picked the exact two people I was targeting lol. Oh well, that's what I get for taking a risk haha.
