there's no way CA is letting Warner do a press conference right now. he might get to do one after Easter

Or assessing his options after being ostracised ?

Love how he and his wife have advisors who travel around with them.

You know Warner is like one of those crazy guys in war movies who you're glad is on your side but are always a little afraid of. He's an incredibly talented batsman and at times he can actually be endearing. He'd mostly managed to reform his image until this summer and I don't know why he chose to turn his back on his own reformation. He's like the Ponting that didn't work out.

Leaving aside all of Warner's flaws, surely he will go down as one of Australia's finest openers? His stats make for very impressive reading.

Smith allegedly told them something like "don't be ridiculous" and walked off

They did it anyway
I really doubt this. I do not think Bancroft is so thick that he'd disobey an explicit instruction from his captain on this matter. If this is the matter, then Smith actually comes off worse as a figurative head who had no real authority at all among his team mates.

I think Smith might have resisted but ultimately gave into it.

Just watching him exit the airport with his wife crying and their kids in their arms makes me feel sad for him

Regarding those reports of him drinking champagne in the hotel bar - I thought he'd given up drinking? Whatever we might think of him as a bloke, a relapse is never good.

Would he be a top 3 Australian Test Opener? With names like Trumper, Hayden, Morris, Simpson, Lawry, Langer to name a few, and considering Warner averages 59 at home and 36 away...I'm not so sure.

I can't seem to feel the same sympathy for him as I felt for Smith and Bancroft, wife and kids there or not.

Never mind international cricket, if you’re regarded as the biggest shunt on the grade cricket circuit you’ve got some serious issues.

That was done to engender sympathy
It would be naive to believe that engendering sympathy was not an intended part of what any of the trio did.
Nevertheless, that does not mean that they do not deserve sympathy.

Warner might be a moron but he’s not stupid

That was done to engender sympathy
Yep, unfortunately he's just so disingenuous, & reading stuff I didn't know about his past character in the last few days, it's hard to give him the benefit of the doubt the other 2 get.

Warner's known for talking about giving up the grog in public when it's not been actually true in the past.

To be fair, he hasn't been talking about being off the drink for a while as far as I know.

And it's goodnight to David Warner's international career - or at least that's my strong hope.

Imagine how he's viewed a) by his captain who is now out for 12 months based on a plan Davey Dum Dum hatched (yes Smith should've poopooed it but his vice captain for ****s sake put him in a horrible position) b) his team mates who have been dragged through the mud and completely ****ed their chances of winning the series c) the hierachy at CA at whom Warner and co barked at for more money, only to pull this stunt d) the general public, who surely have had enough of this guy's ****.

What a great day for cricket if we never have to put up with this dolt again.
That's not how it went down. The top players were given all they wanted to try and buy them off. They stood firm and bargained for the state players and women.

I wonder if the ECB and CA will step up and take on the ***ist banter of the Barmy Army and it's malign influence on the game.
