I think for a poll like Ambrose vs Steyn vs Akram, the options are inadequate. Most people are going to say Steyn by hair's width but that's not accurately reflected by the numbers.
The voting tally reflects this. The split between Ambrose and Steyn at this stage is close enough to say Steyn by a hair.

A bowling attack of Ambrose, Steyn and Wasim contains it all really. I'll take all three, along with Warne, thanks.

lol, yeah. But it is hard to vote over Steyn and Ambrose.

Although if i had to choose watchability it would be wasim > steyn > ambrose. They are pretty close on watchability too.
Steyn in God mode is the greatest sight in the history of test cricket. 80% of the time Akram is more watchable though.

Imo Steyn>/=Ambrose > Akram.
But Akram was good uphill and into the wind (Younis and Imran got first choice whereas Curtley made Courtney do that stuff and Dale has Morne or Jacques or Ntini to do it), plus Wasim was easily the best bat.

And Was brings the old ball into play a lot with his reverse swing.

Akram isn't out of it for an ATG XI against these guys just yet.

Or create a thread for the joke and hope that Miyagi feels inclined to reply
Wishin' and hopin' and thinkin' and prayin'
Plannin' and dreamin' each night of my charms
That won't get me into your arms
So if you're lookin' to find love you can share
All you gotta do is hold me and kiss me and love me
And show me that you care
Show me that you care just for me
Do the things I like to do
Wear your hair just for me, 'cause
You won't get me
Thinkin' and a-prayin', wishin' and a-hopin'
'Cause wishin' and hopin' and thinkin' and prayin'
Plannin' and dreamin' my kisses will start
That won't get you into my heart
So if you're thinkin' of how great true love is

Actually, Steyn is pretty great with the old ball. Averages 18 in overs 41-80 in Asia so he can obviously reverse swing rather effectively. As well as Akram, dunno but he too brings the old ball into play. Akram was a pioneer, still.

As has been said a million times imo, the top ten or so fast bowlers are pretty much interchangeable with a coat of varnish between each player. Afaic these are the following atg fast bowlers:

Wi : Marshall, Ambrose
Aus: Lillee, McGrath
Eng: Trueman
RSA: Donald, Steyn
Nzl: Hadlee
PAK: Akram, Imran

Bowlers like waqar, holding, lindwall, Davidson, garner, etc are probably atg but for me they are just a smidgen below this grouping

Davidson is pretty hard to fault statistically. Good strike rate for his era. Ridiculous average. Won games with the ball. Can bat.

But he's probably a shade behind McGrath because I've watched McGrath live.

Davidson was a terrific cricketer. As were Ray Lindwall, Richie Benaud and Keith Miller.

If only talking Tests, 88-96, Wasim is ahead of pretty much any bowler

Overall, Steyn > Ambrose > Wasim as Wasim destroyed himself with 356 ODIs and went on a decline as a Test bowler since 96.

But u could pretty much single out any purple patch for any bowler. ...
