I also believe Gibbs is severely underrated. He didn't have the extent of uncovered pitches from the pre war days, or the DRS advantage of recent vintage and played in an era of incredibly dead pitches. But even then, you couldn't hit him out of an attack. Him and Underwood both deserve to be higher and he gets my vote next round if I don't change it for this one...

Pitch covering for Tests in England apparently didn't change between 1910 and 1979, according to this article, though apparently it started between the 1950-1 and 1954-5 Ashes series in Australia. Anyone know the details for other countries?
