Morris has one of the skewed statistical records in terms of peak vs career in cricket history. In his first 14 tests in 1946 and 1947 he averaged 74. In the remaining 32, he only averaged 37.

Will go for Gary Kirsten here, made a huge impression on me whenever he toured Asia. Very underrated opener. Lawry a good shout too but never watched him obviously.

While Trumper is often regarded as an opener, he performed far better in the middle order (averaged 33.00 when opening and 53.07 when batting 3-6)

Torn between Cook and Lawry.

I'll vote for Bill Lawry
