AB was crazy talented but he didn't really achieve much more than Clarke in tests, did he?
AB generally scored more around the world against the best.

Clarke was a home bully for most of his career. Averaged only 40 away.

It's pretty weird when you look at their records country by country. AB didn't do significantly better atleast average wise anywhere except WI and UAE (in infamous 2010 road series). Definitely better than Clarke tho imo, was just more consistent overall.

England and India I suppose, but yes, not worlds apart. It’s just that Clarke feasted a fair bit on hapless touring bowling who had little assistance from Australian decks whereas AB faced some eh bowling and downhill ski’d at home too but in friendlier bowling conditions.

It’s the away record though. 40 vs 50 is not insignificant.

I was more making a point that De Villiers is way too high than saying Clarke is better. Clarke is worse but not by that much.
