I was going to vote for an opener (any of Boycott/Trumper/B Richards) but since ABDV and Root are getting votes already??? (weird),
I'm going for Williamson

Are Root and Williamson better than Kohli? Yes, Kohli is going through terrible form right now but Root and Williamson also had/have negatives going against them.I was going to vote for an opener (any of Boycott/Trumper/B Richards) but since ABDV and Root are getting votes already??? (weird),

Its very hard to say anything definitive about any of the fab 4. I feel they are/will be ATGs for sure. But, apart from Smith, I dont think you can nail down any of them yet. And Smith may well be going back in these rankings over the next few years too.Are Root and Williamson better than Kohli? I'd personally rate Kohli(as well as Root) ahead of Williamson if they all retired today. Are Root and Williamson better than Kohli? Yes, Kohli is going through terrible form right now but Root and Williamson also had/have negatives going against them.
Yeah we have to wait till the end. Kohli needs to bounce back from his dip in form. Williamson needs to significantly improve his away record. Root needs to actually maintain his form from last year for another year or two. I can also see Smith's average dropping below 55 if Australia continue to provide these bowling friendly pitches. Its very hard to say anything definitive about any of the fab 4. Yes, he averages more but the negative for him is his away average. As of now, I believe Kohli=Root=Williamson. Nothing to differentiate them.Well, I know there is more than averages but Williamson averages 3 runs more than Kohli and 4 runs more than Root despite making a worse start to his career.
That can happen when you play more against minnows and half your games in batting friendly conditions(at least after the first day/session). Same reason Sangakkara averages like 6 more than Ponting. Taking out minnows they all average like 49. Also important to consider away records. Excluding minnows, Root averages 47 away, Kohli averages 43, and Williamson averages 40. And with Root there's the whole batting half the time in very tough conditions in an era where every nation has a couple of very good fast bowlers and batting around arguably the worst English lineup of all time, but I know using that to boost Root is controversial here lol.Well, I know there is more than averages but Williamson averages 3 runs more than Kohli and 4 runs more than Root despite making a worse start to his career.

This is a beautiful moment.Trumper
Why didn't you vote Williamson top 15? That’s a great average.Averages since 01 Jan 2014:
Smith 66.80
Williamson 63.69 (ahead of both Sangakkara and Younis Khan - already deservedly on the list)
Kohli 52.05
Root 51.15
AB 47.26
It's not an unreasonable call. Hill was certainly more consistently productive, and as Phil Derriman wrote if you wanted one of them to bat for your life you may well have chosen Hill. There's just a romantic wonder about Trumper that has never gone away, and while I'm not one to just blindly accept peer ratings - we all know that feelings can get in the way of facts - I also don't discount them on the basis of a decimal point in averages. When there's one bloke who virtually everyone else who played with or against him, or saw him close at hand, is so in awe of to the point that they elevate him to an entire other level, that does count for something in my books.Actually I think Hill>Trumper. Will hop on that train if it gets more steam.
Because I admit he still has holes in his record. As I said I was going to vote for an opener (one of Trumper/Boycott/BRichards), but only voted for Williamson when I saw votes for AB and Root. Why didn't you vote Williamson top 15? That’s a great average.
