Who's going to do this, because I wasn't planning to. Removing the worst isn't a good indication though as not being picked at all is worse than being picked in a low spot.
So it'd only effect players who made everyone's list?

My fondest Tendulkar memory from ODIs.

This is where it all began for him as an ODI GOAT, before he moved to the top of the order, he struggled to get 100s. After that, they started flowing at an unpredecented rate.

That was a class innings, I was so gutted when he got stumped off Mark Waugh. :(

Hasn't everything you'd need been released already?
Yeah, I think all the points and the highest picks are out there, as well as the total number of people who voted (if it is the same as those that were counted?)

Only thing you'd need is the names and points of whoever was on the fringe, because they might sneak into the top 50.

So who does everyone think was the most unlucky?

51 through to 55

Haynes 25 (3 votes)
Lloyd 24 (5)
Afridi 23 (2)
Hayden 22 (2)
Cronje 21 (1)

For me it was Lloyd and Ganguly (12 points, 4 votes).

Inzaman received no votes.

Haynes and Ganguly imo. In the list of ODI players with most hundreds, they're both way up there. Should've made the top 50 here.

Yuvraj and Lloyd too pretty unlucky.

I think minimum of 10% votes(3 votes in this case since total number of voters was 29) for eligibility in top 50 could have been adopted.Anyway its too late for any suggestions.

This is definitely one of those things that someone suggests after the fact when in reality I believe there was only 53 players who received 3 or more votes - that's very risky.

Anyway, I think the list overall is good. No complaints from me, particularly at the top.

Well done Nufan. Great effort running this and the list is pretty decent barring a couple of names. But you can't be blamed for that. I can for not voting.

I think a list like this would work better if the number you could vote for was the number selected. You could also ensure outliers were nullified by using (median + mean) / 2. Mean and median would assume zero points for players not picked. This way more popular players would be picked ahead of players who had been strategically voted.

When I made the original suggestion about removing the best/worst it was based the old Olympic scoring idea. But in that instance removing the worst was beneficial. But it only works it you have to place a vote for everyone in a list. For example if you were just ranking 50 names in order someone could put Viv last to boost Tendulkar's chances of finishing at number 1. Removing the best is still a worthwhile exercise just out of curiosity (primarily to remove Harvey and Bracken from the Top 50. :devil2:)

I did do a re-rank but it does not change the top 14 at all. The first change happens at #15 with Kapil Dev going down a spot and Zulu Klusener gaining one. Here is the full list. The last column is the reworked ranking after removing the best vote.
