Verghese Steps Out
"If thats how it is..I see that there only one solution from causing a division. Whilst the Australian tour continues, I'm stepping out of the CW XI for one season because of team player conflicts."
---
And Back In
Verghese:
"After talking with the captain of the CW XI and having a long think, I think it would be better for me to return to the CWXI and keep doing my best for the team. The camp is still in total shock but I will say it will be worked out slowly and no one is pressured in any way. Lets keep working hard and continue giving our best "

Sangrah Bhatia's Press Release
After the finish of the Rebel Tour, I as a player am willing to come back to the CW XI and resume my place with the side. Of course my performances must be the main and sole criteria that I am selected in the side.
In the past, selection procedures have been ludicrious and questionable, I will only come back and help the CW XI only IF the selectors and hierarchy will re-evaulate and re-design their selection procedures.
I sincerely would love to play on the upcoming tour of New Zealand and in the World Cup, but as a player I can atleast be assured of a place in the side, and be treated as a valuable team member, unlike in the past when all I have been is an out of place bystander.
I am willing and ready to let the past be the past, and look forward to a brighter future with my relationship with the CW XI, the selectors, the coach and the captain.
Regards
Sangrah Bhatia

Peter Young:
"I was going to say, all these people saying that they are going back should hang their heads in shame. I would like to think I was no. 1 'keeper in CW XI after the master, Andre decided to change his attention to bowling. But I couldn't stand by and watch my fellow players being mis-treated.
I would love my place back in the CW XI if I merited it but it would be a severe misconduct on my part as it was a group decision. I couldn't live with myself if I went back before it was resolved.
However, big steps are being made in the right direction and I hope it will be resolved and we may all be united under one board on control. Then, and only then, would it be right to ask permission to return to the fold."

Richard Twyman Announced His Retirement
After a lengthy consultation with nobody Rich Twyman would like to take this opportunity to announce his retirement from the Cricket Web XI in all aspects, as captain and player, at the end of the current VB Series in Australia.
"It has been great while it lasted but with all this rebel tour raising it’s head in the last week it will just be impossible to continue.
I feel that the this whole rebel tour is just a ploy by a few members to lay blame onto a Board member while really it seems they are just unhappy at not being selected themselves. Reuben is a co-board member and as such, he and Liam have to agree and even then Liam’s superiority of founder would have the final say, so to say Lord’s decisions have caused this all seems a tad unfounded
Therefore to blame one half for everything, while offering the other half a spot within the Rebels just doesn't add up, along with stories changing weekly – when I was approached for a spot on the Rebels, it was Liam everyone was after now it's Reuben – Make up your minds!
Talk of the Rebels re-joining the CW XI has also influenced my decision somewhat, this seems madness, they run off mid tour and cause chaos and expect just to walk back into the starting XI in a few weeks time. If only Andy Flower and Henry Olonga had had this luxury. And at the end of the day where does it ever end I can’t captain a side where I know half the players might walk out just because I didn’t pick or bowl someone that day
Like I said at the start of this statement it has been a great honour and privilege to captain the Cricket Web XI and I wish Andrew every success as my successor but the time has come to leave.”
Richard Twyman - Captain, Cricket Web XI
---
Liam Camps:
"This certainly is an unfortunate announcement, but not unexpected. As co-president of the Board I beg of you to reconsider his decision. You are one of the best players and one of the best in the world. Added to that you have been an inspired captain and role model for the players. Please, at the very least confer with the Board and the rebels before you make a final decision."
Brendon Goff:
"I'm disspointed to see Rich Twyman depart. It was an honour to play under him and despite my departure to the dark side i am grateful for his leadership. On the matter of returning to the CW XI, I am willing to do so but I believe things need to be met before this happens. I feel that the CWBCC needs to create a team of selectors who have no outside interests. This team should comprise of people who are either retired from CW XI cricket or are prepared to play Dev's Cricket and permanently relinquish their spot for the CW XI.
I also feel that the selectors should have as much responsibility on there heads if things go wrong. That way any favouritism would be harder to put in place as the results would be the key factor. If these issues are cleared up then i will gladly and proudly return to the CW XI."

Stand-in captain Andrew Cloete's Press Statement:
I am extremely pleased that my team has solved the issues that for too long have divided us. Throughout the situation I have remained neutral and have hardly commented. I felt both sides had good points, but I don't want to dwell on matters of the past.
Selection has been a huge problem, which of course is dividing the team. As captain I will pick who ever I think is best in the team. However I do feel it very unfair that selectors/Board members have a stronger say over me. As captain I feel I should have as strong as input as any if not greater. I will try my hardest to sort out any feuds that happen to divide the team.
I am declaring Goff as my vice-captain. He was in the Rebel team and I feel he can help me sort out feuds. As well as this, he has been an extremely prominent figure in th ODI team as well as being a good Test batsman. Blewy and I have amassed some of the biggest partnerships recorded in CWXI hsistory and so we are both well acquainted with each other. I'm sure he'll be of great help and will continue to play well.
Basically I just want you all to respect the Board's decisions. I know it's extremely hard but if I feel wrongdoings have occurred (as was the case I felt with Neil) I won't be afraid to say so. But with the new selection panel being introduced I'm sure things will improve. Above all I want the CWXI to gel as a team and keep going the way we have been. We have been able to upset some big teams and have done an extremely good job.
Above all I want to leave where Rich left off. He was a brilliant captain and I was more than happy to be his deputy. I will try my best to get the sort of respect he managed to bring out in all of you. And I hope Brendon can experience the same sort of thing I felt working under Rich.
First and foremost though, let's put everything behind us and look forward to the future as we can hopefully win as many as possible and I want to see everyone performing as well as I know you all can. Above all let's have some fun
A vote of captaincy will be conducted soon however. I urge you all to keep me in and Brendon as my deputy, as I have served under Rich a long time and am sad to see him go, but having said that I am also happy to step up to captaincy for I feel I am now ready for such a task. After being one of the 5 most capped players and one of the most consistent batsman for quite some time I feel I have deserved my place. Brendon has also done the same, but having said that, I want the captain to have respect from all his team members. So I leave the decision ultimately up to you, I hope you pick well and go for who you want. And give all due respect to the captain.
cheers,
Current CWXI Captain
Andrew Cloete

The CWBCC's "Proposal Toward Reconciliation":
Co-Chairman of the CWBCC, Liam Camps devised a plan addressing the problems within CW Cricket. He presented it on behalf of the CWBCC.
This is my proposal to resolve the problems currently being experienced in the CW XI system. I don't expect everyone or even most to agree and accept my plan, but I urge that everyone considers it thoughtfully before arriving at a conclusion.
Two main issues on the agenda:-
1) Election of Board Members
2) Player contracts
1) ELECTION OF BOARD MEMBERS
The Board should ideally be comprised of players with no investment in the CW XI (non-players), but as it is, both board members are performing the dual role. To many this introduces the potential of bias influencing decisions and that makes for an unhappy party.
My suggestion is that a casual survey be taken to gather the feelings of the CW XI, CW 'A' and CW 'B' players to get the current opinions on the Board as a whole and to assess the individual members (Reuben Verghese and myself - Liam Camps). This will be taken into consideration and an additional member elected to the Board. This additional voice would preferably be a retired player or non-player to remove that area of potential bias.
Another person, preferably a CW player may then be elected as a moderator to Board meetings. That person would be informed of all selection and report back to the public in an attempt to ensure a thoughtful reasoning process. As such, for every selection suggestion or movement to drop a player, reasons must be listed by the relevant Board member. That reasoning will then be released by the moderator/observer for public scrutiny.
At the close of each tour a vote will be held to gauge the public opinion of the actions of the Board for the most recent assignment. That vote may or may not lead to another election to determine the third Board member and moderator.
---
2) PLAYER CONTRACTS
Players should be issued contracts of a minimum of one (1) tour to a maximum of three (3) tours. These contracts would possibly act in one or more of the following ways:-
a/ Contracted players get an immediate slot in the CW 'A' or 'B' team when not in CW XI service.
b/ Contracted players must play at least one international in every series (comprising of more than 5 matches) for which he or she is contracted and selected. This will ensure that every player in the touring party gets a chance to play.
c/ Touring parties must be chosen only from contracted players.
d/ Injured players may only be replaced by contracted players if available.
Personally I would suggest a/, b/ and d/ of the above options.
Thinking Process:
The reason for contracts is to ensure that the CWBCC has a decent pool of players at its disposal should another walkout occur. The contracts add some measure of job security to the CW players.
Such a contract would only be terminated under the following circumstances:
1/ Severe breach of CW XI rules and regulations.
2/ A unanimous decision by the Board which is accepted by a majority vote from the public.
3/ An appeal by the player which is granted by a unanimous vote of the CWBCC.
All contracted players will get some measure of playing time during the contracted expanse (ie one series, two series etc.). Only ten (10) central contracts will be granted (ie three tour contracts) and ten minor contracts (one or two tours) in addition.
---
The Response:
Brendon Goff (CW XI vice-captain):
"I like the idea of having contracts, however I don't feel that because you have a contract that you should be garaunteed a game. This led to the rebellion in the 1st place after all. I know that if in my case I was on the verge of the first XI and i was brought in because it was part of the contract that I had to play at least 1 game in the series, and the game I was brought in for we lost, I would be very disspointed.
I think IF a selection committee was introduced you would not need to really worry about favouritism because they would be forced to pick the best team possible or they face the axe."
Sangrah Bhatia (CW XI international):
"With these sorts of guidelines, I and many other players can look forward to having a great relationship with the CWBCC and its board members.
I wouldn't mind constructing a Players Association within the CWBCC, where someone who is in touch with the players can deal with these issues with a 'straight bat' and 'from the heart'."

The CWBCC vs the Players - Negotiations
After protracted negotiations, the 5 attendees of the meeting have reached what is hopefully the first step towards reunification:
The Vote of Confidence has been issued, and is open to all players.
If both Reuben Verghese and Liam Camps win their votes, then they retain joint-CEO status, if only 1 wins, he becomes sole CEO. If both lose, then proper elections will be made for a new CEO (with all nominees backed by a proposer and seconder).
The CWBCC will be a minimum of 2 people (including CEO) plus any co-opted on to help by the CEO and his board.
Selection Committee:
This will be completely revamped as follows:
Chairman of Selectors: CEO of CWBCC (if 2 people, they share 1 vote)
3 members as follows:
1 - representative of the newly formed CWPA (Player Association)
2 - a non-player agreed on by general consensus
3 - a tour-by-tour selection member. This member will be appointed by the CWBCC, but cannot be a member of the CWBCC.
Once squads are selected, the captain will be added to the committee, but will only vote if there is a deadlock.
At any stage (between tours), the representative of the CWPA can be challenged by the members of the CWPA subject to rules agreed on at the final formation of the CWPA.
Likewise, a motion of no-confidence can be placed in the non-player.
The move for contracts was scrapped. There will be no contracts.

The People at the Polls
All of CWLand headed to the polls, as they were requested to give a vote of confidence in the leadership of Liam Camps and Reuben Verghese (no relation to their playing namesakes) on the CWBCC.
Reuben Verghese received a 7-2 vote of confidence.
Liam Camps received a 10-1 vote of confidence.
These figures are merely proportional to the massive numbers of the CWLand population that voted.

Selection Panel Reformation:
The reformed CWBCC in collaboration with non-player representative, Andre Maddocks, has elected Sangrah Bhatia as the inital TBT (tour-by-tour) selection member. This means that he will be part of the selection panel at least until the end of the upcoming New Zealand tour.
Sangrah Bhatia:
"Dear CWBCC and Its Players, I am absoultely honoured and delighted with my appointment as Tour By Tour Selection Member with the CWBCC.
This came as a wonderfully pleasant surprise, and I shall endeavour in always trying my best, being fair and equal to all of the CWBCC and all its players. I look forward to the many challenges that my role awaits, and as always will be striving for my best all the time.
I look forward to cementing a solid relationship with the Coach, Staff and Players of the CWBCC.

Brendon Goff named to the helm of the CW XI
Brendon Goff at a press conference in Campsfield:
Well to start off with I will say how honoured and privileged I feel to be taking over the reigns of such a good side. I would like to thank all those who supported me, and most of all I would like to express my heartfelt sympathies for Andrew (Cloete) who I know really wanted this job. However I hope we can work together to take this CW side to a new level and in doing so become one of the greatest sides to ever play the game.
I feel that after all the goings-on over the past month in the CWBCC everything seems back in order and I feel that the unity of our group has been made much stronger by the divide.
I will lead this side with the utmost professionalism and honour.
