.
I ask myself whether these would have been in my top 20 and what would be my ranking of these 19. I find that it is not possible to honestly split (even with all my biases like anyone else's) all the players in ranks. So I ended up putting these players in clusters of 2 to four. Of course, Bradman was alone at the top spot :)

  1. Bradman
  2. Hobbs/Sobers/Hammond
  3. Grace/Ranji/Trumper
  4. Tendulkar/Richards/Lara/Weekes
  5. Hutton/Headley/Pollock
  6. Chappell/Gavaskar/Sutcliffe
  7. Ponting/Miandad

Of these 19, 17 would be in my top 20. Thats 85 percent. I would not have had Ponting and Miandad and would have had a bunch of Walcott/Worrell/Compton/Barry Richards.

The point I am making is that for most of us this top 20 will represent between 80-90 percent of our own selection irrespective of ranking, which in my opinion is really pointless unless done just light-heartedly.

So well done CW selection committee. I dont think we have an 80% plus acceptance of most cricket team selections :)

Less than an hour to go and this one is really heating up, next vote could produce three different leaders.

denis compton
adam gilchrist (time to acknowledge the number of definitive knocks he played in tests and ODIs all around the globe)

just a reminder guys, we are allowed to consider tests, ODI and FC records in these polls. players like de silva, inzi, gilchrist, hayden, barry richards and merchant are all very legit choices

(I know you know this already. just hoping to swing a few votes in favor of the greatest no.7 of all time who also is a definitive no.2 in any all time ODI XI)
