CW Draft League

Should someone come first that many times though (or even place, just to make it more realistic) then they'd have five titles and the most points scored overall by far, so they'd still be ranked as the best
It's not just about that though. We want to find the best drafters and have fun whilst doing it. So particularly those that deserve to be in the next draft, are - not just to prove themselves, but to have fun as well.

I know you're trying hard not to look biased, as you're one of the people on 3/4 votes atm, but it really is the best way. Lots of good performances should definitely be rewarded.

Immunity zone is the thing that can solve that - the top (insert a reasonable number) points holders in the championship can not be relegated. Simple?

How many players should be immune?

This will mean that if you were the championship leader and thus immune, if you finished 11th in a draft, 10th and 12th would be eliminated if they were not safe.

Season 3: The Clause Draft

Basic rules
1. The draft follows the basic turn-by-turn format which I will use a random list generator to determine the order for.
2. Players have 12 hours to take their picks and may choose as soon as possible if they are timed out.
3. Each player selects and submits their own clause. Examples below
4. Each clause needs to have 12 different players at the very least who are available to choose from.
5. For every selection, the player needs to nominate which clause they are ‘using’, and from then on they are not allowed to use it again.
6. This means we will have 12 player-submitted themed picks, so it should be a chaotic and fun draft.
7. I will moderate the clauses to make sure they’re not stupid, too difficult, too abstract etc.
8. Everyone needs to use each clause once.
9. No Bradman.

Clause examples
Select a player that was bowled by Glenn McGrath in tests
Select a player that debuted before 1900
Select a player with a last name starting with W
Select a player from Bangladesh or Zimbabwe
Select a player that made a pair in tests
Select a player who had a brother who also played test cricket

There are so many ideas! I encourage everyone involved to be inventive, but naturally it will be better if a few clauses are relatively simple.

Disagree with rule #5, but the rest is great. I think you should be able to pick a player and allocate which clause each player uses at the end.

At the end of the draft? I don't see the advantage. At least if you nominate your clause as you go along we can all cross check it for potential mistakes. That way there's no argument right at the end when we dispute whether 'Don Bradman's wife wore pink dresses on Sunday'.

Plus people would be less likely to make mistakes if we marked them off, and people will have the chance to 'defend' players if they can figure out who others might want

That's where the strategy comes in - you have to plan and adapt, and it could go pear-shaped if you use up selections wrongly
Definitely disagree. You should definitely get an advantage for picking a player that fits into most of the categories, as it gives you flexibility.

But you'll have the same advantage if you use your broader picks sparingly at the start of the draft

But surely you'd want those who perhaps wouldn't usually get picked in Round 1, to get picked then, because of their usefulness and flexibility in fitting into many clauses? I think your idea will result in a picking order very similar to that of Season 1, personally.

Don't think we should have relegation immunity tbh. If the league leader ballses up badly enough to be relegated then its their fault. They shouldn't just get to stay up and be able to compete for points again the following season, they should have to have a spell in.the reserves and show they're better than everyone in the league below.

If we must, then for each season the league leader or league leader + previous season winner should be immune. With each person only being able to play the immunity card once before they're relegated.

Totally agreed, I'm not a fan of the idea of immunity, if you come last you go down IMO.

Why is Bradman never available?
Gives the person who gets first pick an unfair advantage. Say what you want about Sobers or Imran going first if he's banned, but as Eds proved, you can easily win without them

How about the idea that I floated to you. One could pick Bradman, but if you do you defer your pick in the next round until after the draft. That would even things out and include strategy, and also mandate that he would have to be picked in one of the first two rounds.
Bradman played the game like everyone else, in this format no one may choose him, but at least we are given a choice.
