More like just anti-Aus/Eng
More like a stupid list. Nobody thinks finger spin is irrelevant, there are 3 finger spinners to come and 4 wrist spinners. Blatantly casting a **** vote to push against an agenda that doesn’t exist is moronic. Also if Warne if the 15th best you’ve ever seen can you please share some of your stash with the rest of us.
Suck it up you lot. It all started with a bunch of votes excluding Murali completely, and doing that smugly at that. There were going to be some responses to it. If you expect anti Murali lists to be acceptable then accept this too.

Lists omitting Murali might have principle behind them, if a flawed one. A bit different to just bunging in ****.

Poor excuse to omit someone who took 800 test wickets. Plus there is nothing to tell that they are not simply insecure about Murali's record relative to their own hero's. Warne fanboys can be as insufferable as Tendulkar fanboys on this board.

Realistically neither example of lists should be counted.

If it means Grimmett or someone manages to win it'll make a mockery of the whole countdown (O'Reilly probably also if it's a case of him being on vastly more lists than Warne/Murali, though he at least is roughly in their class as a bowler)

I haven't been following this thing the whole way but where did Lance Gibbs end up being ranked ??

Eh I think TJB hit the nail on the head (urgh pains me to say that) when he said that this isn't a conclusive, well thought out, objective 'Best Spinners of All Time' list. It's 'Cricketweb Decides'. And the results reflect that. Lets face it, as much as we are all cricket nerds, by and large we are not expert cricket historians with well researched and unbiased opinions. Most of us put little to no research in ranking names outside the top 5, and no doubt there was always going to be some amount of posters favoring players from the nations they support, or picking players they had never seen but had just heard nice things said about.

A more 'proper' exercise will have to be conduct by a smaller group of posters actually working together to define a set of criteria by which to evaluate players, and then thoroughly going over the stats and anecdotes and weighing them up to give as objective and conclusive a list as possible. This was just a bit of fun.

Warne at least is inferior to O’Reilly and arguably no better than Grimmett.

I also don’t support lists exluding Murali obviously, as I had him #1. But they’re at least trying to make a genuine point about their legitimate thinking regarding his bowling action. That one was just made to spite people.

In which case I retract my comment quoting you.

Wasn't Mortaza genuinely quick when he first came along? Obviously he isn't now that his knees are more metal than bone, but I tend to remember he could really get it through once upon a time.

Know I already posted it in the Aus domestic thread, but here in South Australia that just isn't true
Mortaza, Rubel and Tapash Baisya were pretty brisk unce upon a time. They did not last.

Haven't seen you asking the same from people who excluded Murali and from the one put Murali in the same place.

Lists omitting Warne also has some principle. Drug cheat. Asif was omitted from some lists in pace bowlers thread.

Any one of Murali, Warne or Tiger not making the top 5 would seriously make me question CWers' credibility.

And IMO, people omitting Murali are more doing out of insecurity about what Murali achieved relative to their hero. Principle is just an excuse. It's like a Tendulkar fanboy omitting Bradman and then making an excuse like I am limiting to players I have watched or some such BS.

That's a massive assumption, and says more about you that it's where your mind leaps
