CW decides the greatest All-Rounder ever, 64 man knockout tournament: Voting Thread

youre allowed to use tests as your personal criteria viriya thats okay. but people like flintoff and watson become a lot stronger candiates if we allow limited overs in the voting. and its not really that unfair to the pre ODI players i dont think, we dont knock points off Sobers because he played before ODIs were around. If anything we make assumptions that he would have faired well in them

This should just focus on Tests imo.. combining Tests + ODIs +T20s makes comparisons with early era players unfair/impossible.. Not to mention the fact that you have to figure out if a player was as good as another player comparing different formats.. I would vote with just Tests in mind.. We should have a different thread for ODIs.
Virya is right

Daniel Vettori was a batting all rounder largely in tests and one of the better spin bowlers going around in odis he was frequently in the top 5 ODI bowlers iirc

I guess I will do my best to factor in odis but guys like Shane Watson are really going to shine in this.

just weigh up all 6 formats and consider both bowling and batting for all of them if you want to go into heaps of detaiL

i just simplified it for myself, I consider Watson a great batsman and good bowler. I consider Akram a good batsman and an ATG bowler. So I went with Akram

something like this

Watson

bat - 7/10
ball - 6/10

= 13

Akram

bat - 5/10
ball 10/10

= 15

using this method forced me to go with Hadlee over Mankad as well. It might be flawed but w/e thats how i do it. if i get a tie, i take fielding into account

Another cool fact. There are 12 countries represented in this thing! the 10 test playing nations plus Kenya and the Netherlands.

Should have thrown Kevin O'Brien in just to make it 13

another reason why it should favour all formats not just tests are because there are people who never played a test in here. as well as people like Rice and Grace who didn't get a chance to play many

That's an argument to consider FC + Tests.. which is understandable since they are comparable formats.

yeah but then you have to consider the level of competition in ODIs is more comparable to tests than FC is

Such a ****ty list, though I don't have a right to complain given that I didn't participate in the nomination thread.

Asif Iqbal, Eddie Barlowe, and Charlie Macartney not making it is a big pile of poo #YeahDidItAnyway.

i just cant see any justification for Duminy. i dont rate his bowling highly enough for this. at least bopara did the rounds at domestic level

Irani probably deserves it more than Bopara for that tho. O what a mess. lets get to round 2 already
No point squabbling about these guys because if this is legit they'll all be gone after R1 anyway. Duminy or Bopara, whatever.

And Harsh is right. Charlie Macartney is a big oversight. Wildcard him into the second round.

Tbh it's more about ignoring some players from the 19th century. Alfred Mynn, Billy Bates, even Will Barnes a better shout than many names here.
