Yes, it might be coming back.
Yes, I did screw the pooch massively on this one: http://www.cricketweb.net/forum/cricket-chat/55978-cwxi-return-kinda.html. And for that matter a lot of things I've ran here....my track record on CS better but that's harder to prove to a lot of you. One of the main issues with running CW Cricket all those years ago was that I didn't really set myself a good schedule, I kinda went ad-lib with simming it and it didn't really work out. Also I think I got the format wrong, and I feel like it would've worked better with a sub-forum rather than it's own individual thread - I'll talk to James about creating one for this, but for now I'll just use this thread until I get a grasp of player interest.
Instead of the CW vs. the world concept that I originally planned, this concept will be more like this - Cricket Web Cricket - with the teams being based on forummers here. Two reasons why this is better - one because it seems a bit more fun for those involved to go up against fellow CWebbers and two because I can accomodate more CWebbers who wish to join rather than only playing 11 and having to rotate guys. I intend to run a FC competition using ITC of 4 teams - hopefully we'll get enough numbers for all 4 sides, if we don't within the next 3 weeks I'll only use 2-3 and use an XI based on real cricketers. If I can find a decent sim for it I'll run an OD competition too.
To apply for a side, email me at cricketwebcricket@gmail.com. I'll give you until 15 August - so about two weeks. At that point I'll announce the successful bids, based on current numbers. This will give you a week to sign with your preferred club, but in practice I hope that people giving me bids have a few prospective players in mind. This will matter in terms of who I give a franchise to.
Preliminary schedule
Trials begin when we get 22 players. I intend to run several trials until 18 August. I expect at least 22 registrations by 11 August, else I won't run the competition.
The actual competitions will start on 22 August. A good guide for the competitions:
Monday - FC Round 1 Game 1
Tuesday - FC Round 1 Game 2 / SC match if applicable
Thursday - FC Round 2 Game 1
Friday - FC Round 2 Game 2 / SC match if applicable
And so on for the next 12 rounds (so we play home and away twice).
If we add OD games to that:
Monday - OD Round 1 Game 1
Tuesday - OD Round 1 Game 2 / SC match if applicable
Wednesday - FC Round 1 Game 1
Thursday - FC Round 1 Game 2 / SC match if applicable
And so on - in this case though I'll probably only one 6 rounds so you only play home and away once.
I will stick to this as much as I can.
Motivation can, and has been an issue in the past. I have made the schedule fairly short, so I don't burn out mid-season. A seven week schedule will take us to the middle of October, and then I'll give myself a little bit of a break. In order to make sure I return, I will have a start date for Season 2, and so forth until such a point where either 1. I don't have the time to run this effectively or 2. there is such little interest I don't see the point. Hopefully neither will happen in the forseeable future.
