Dev League XI vs CW Bar XI
With a commanding hundred from Marc Robbins, and an incisive spell of bowling from AA, the CW Bar XI crushed the Dev League XI by 141 runs. Robbins stroked 145 off 163 balls, with 24 fours and 2 sixes, amidst the CW Bar's second innings of 464 all out at the obscenely small CW Bar Ground.
Some 9 bowlers were used by the Dev League XI, and the bowlers typically struggled, though Rob Dauth snared AA and Sangrah Bhatia as they attempted to launch into him. Geraint Jones smashed an unbeaten 82 off just 75 balls, with 15 boundaries in the effort. Ultimately the Dev League XI were set to chase 373 for victory, despite taking a lead of 92 on first innings.
AA quickly removed Patrick for his second duck of the match, and Jasotharan followed at 13/2. Kenny Dobson's 83 not out and Callum Thompson's cameo of 41 off 36 balls were the lone shows of resistence, and the Dev League XI collapsed for 231.
The first innings was an entirely different affair. After the Bar XI chose to bat first, the Blue trio of Demeza, Patrick and Collins stuck to their task well enough to share 9 wickets. Sir Mike Gatting was the lone non-Blue victim, and he was caught at deep midwicket off Alex Blackman for 69. The other major score of the innings was Robbins' 88, and 369 was the eventual total.
Despite Patrick's early failure, Andrew Garven, Rob Dauth and Callum Thompson stroked bold half-centuries, whilst Alex Blackman's unbeaten 122 anchored a huge score of 461. It seemed it would be enough, given the bowling firepower possessed by the Dev League XI, but the road of a surface and blade of Robbins impacted superbly.
