Day 2

Keepers XI vs Allrounders XI
at the CWBCC Stadium
Wet and overcast conditions, good bounce for the batsmen, turn for spinners.

Stunningly ineffective bowling from the wicketkeepers set up a huge total of 309/0 by the Allrounders XI, as Nick Hancock and Callum Thompson registered big hundreds. Only Jasotharan managed to go for less than 4 runs an over, as the Allrounders gave no chance.

Kenny Dobson played a lovely half-century in the Keepers' chase, but only Dubb-Lynch and Garven managed to provide anything approaching support, as the margin of defeat was a comfortable 80 runs. In an embarrassing twist, Andrew Cloete was the leading wickettaker for the Allrounders, as he dismissed Moerk, Crampton and Lezama for ducks at the end of the innings.

Allrounders XI 309/0 (50 overs)
Wicketkeepers XI 229 (48.5 overs)

Allrounders XI won by 80 runs

Batters XI vs Seamers XI
at the PDV Dome
Bouncy surface, no lateral movement.

A huge upset came about, as Thomas and Watt staged an unbroken partnership of 58, seeing the Seamers home over the Batters by 5 wickets. The ball dominated the bat after Hoy won the toss, and Wright and Cameron each took 2 wickets, as the Batters were all out for 185. DeSilva, Das and Butler made scores, but early inroads had seen the Batters at 12/3, then they lost their last 4 wickets for 24 runs.

Demeza was out early in the chase, but Wilson and Rose batted calmly to lay a platform for a famous win. Kyle Wright played a lovely cameo in the middle order, and Adam Collins contributed solidly again. When he was caught and bowled by Blue team-mate Cribb, it seemed the Batters might pull through yet, at 131/5, but Thomas and Watt denied the claim with a mature partnership.

Batters XI 185 (45.5 overs)
Seamers XI 189/5 (44 overs)

Seamers XI won by 5 wickets

Pickup will be taking heart out of those results ahead of the Batting XI vs. Bowling XI match later this series...

Absolutely gutted to lose to the seamers, but reading the line "Stunningly ineffective bowling from the wicketkeepers" made me laugh enough to forget about it. Good show, and man, the one person people questioned for being in the all rounders rather than batters ends up taking four wickets in a match. Go figure. :p

How come they were all dot balls, then? :p
The batsman were so busy rolling around their crease laughing at the ludicrous appeals that they forgot to run?

:p

OK, lads, team meeting at ten tomorrow. We need to figure out how to stop the run rate now that our master plan has been uncovered.

I'd say this master plan would be more effective:

Guaranteed to make the batsman hit wicket, on account of him falling asleep while waiting for the ball to reach the other end.

yeah i actually have no idea what type of bowler anyone is except for myself so anyone else wishing to let me know would be good.

Jamee will be 12th man next game on account of running me out :p

Has anyone actually got any stats on how many times Ive been dismissed by Hoy in my career? He seems to get me constantly... I cant even get away from him in charity games...

We can't do that all the time. Over rate regulations and whatnot.
