Asterix XI and Scaly Piscine CC reach the final eight for a record sixth time. Boggles, winners of the first ever BT Cup reach the last eight for the first time since the second installment, a long long time ago. Cymru Gurgitaters and Jamees 999ers reach this stage for the second consective occasion and the second time in their respective history. Elsewhere Jaffna Jets, Magical Ponies and the cleverly named, Four Pillars and Poor Fillers make their first apperances at this stage of the cup.

It's hard to look past Scaly Piscine CC and Asterix XI, both members of their nations I.1 league. Depending on the draw, I would expect at least one of them to reach the final, if not them both, creating a replay of last seasons final. Boggles and Jamees 999ers face uphill battles to make the semis. Jaffna Jets seem to be a much improved side given their win over Whenuapai to reach this stage of the competition and their showdown with Cymru should be one heck of a match I should expect. Elsewhere Magical Ponies have to be hot favourites to reach the semis. Another side that are coming along well. This is evident after their stunning defeat of English hot shots Withington Wonderers.

One interesting fact to come out of this that the "so called" big four's stranglehold on this competition seems to weakening. Asterix, Scaly, Whenuapai and Withington had generally considered the benchmark at CW. In the past 4 cups at least 3 of these sides had featured in the semis, and 2 of them have contested the past 5 finals. With Withington and Whenuapai failing to reach the quarter finals, one has to wonder whether their are changes at CW BT, with a new order starting prevail?

I wouldnt say he is a hot favourite, Canning isnt that good. If anything the game is fairly even. Will be the match of the round imo.

Agree with this, should be a good game. Terry to continue his run of form IMO.

Crap I hate English matches, oh well atleast I don't have to pick the pitch. As I got NFI what my side's strength is anymore.

Oh dear, going to get pillaged by the Piscine.

How do you know I haven't got to the last 8 since the 2nd one NIbbs? Impressive knowledge, I did miss cup(s) during my absences in my defence. :p

Disaster for Brackenhurst early on.

Brackenhurst -
End of Over 14: 52-4, runrate=3.71
Weston 2-0-6-2
Read* 3 (3 balls)
Hamlin 3 (4 balls)

Going to need a ridiculous partnership. Remember I said if Read failed in this match he's gone from the club. How's that for motivation?

C'mon Hurst!
challenged for a friendly mate!

So, so devasted about the loss really. Easy ratings win for me, without a shadow of a doubt and somehow we lose by nine wickets. Even worse when I had lost winnable OD Matches in order to play a full-strength, fresh line-up and then get smashed around. How 3000 bowlers take 5 wickets against players from 9000-13000 for forty runs, I don't know.

Full credit to Tamil Eelam, but I am just so sad and devasted. Has not been a fun few months at all for me.
Pretty sure my batsmen were better then most of your bowlers. Granted we have no depth in batting, like you seem to have. But our top order was better then your bowlers. If our top order doesn't fall cheaply we usually beat most sides with similar bowling attacks to yours. Not saying their bad, but our batsmen were better.

Can't explain how our bowlers knocked you guys over so cheaply. But we rested most of bowlers in the last couple games, so this was probably the first match all season they were near full fitness. Still I need to work on my bowling a fair bit or we are going to fall behind. Only problem is every time I have decent amount to spend on a player the prices go up. Best I can buy now is a resp with decent secondaries. Last season I could have brought a prof with decent secondaries. One day I will have enough money to buy the players I want.

Happy with the win, I think that gave us our goal of 2nd spot coming into the group.

Yeah, agreed your top-order is better than mine. But none of my batsmen are fillers, and how your BT3000 blokes somehow kept getting wickets truly baffled me. Will have to play you again soon mate.
