A genuine question Overrated Sanity, has your perception of Viv dropped a lot, cause some time back you ranked him number 2 after Bradman(as a bat)

Viv easily.
This is why it’s impossible to take you seriously (and perhaps that’s the point). There’s nothing easy about this. It’s entirely subjective. Neither one has an objective case over the other. There’s not even a real basis for comparison between a bat and bowler. Stop trying to be analytical and just accept you are entirely ruled by your weird personal biases.

I went for Viv but on another day could have gone the other way.

Nope, still think either him, Hobbs, Sobers, Tendulkar, Lara, Smith have strong claims for the best after Bradman all for different reasons. There is no set answer for me. I just severely dislike the arguments made in favour of him by Viv fanboys who disregard or ignore flaws in his record.

Same 'flaws' you can find in the other top bats.

Every batsman and bowler had flaws.

That aside, Viv here for me, a genuine contender for best after Bradman. Ambrose for me isn't quite in the two or three man argument for best ever bowler.

Pretty much why I find this an easy decision.

Virtual toss up. Each player a smidgen below being top rung in their respective field but Viv was also a great fielder so I'll go with him .

Viv meant a lot more to WI cricket. Ambrose helped WI decline a bit slower but I felt sad for how his career end coincided with WI becoming a mid-bottom tier side.
