Diplorable second half sees CW remain winless
Willy Mammeth

Skill, urgency, class; all things shown by CW in the first half. CW kicked only the 1 solitary goal to Essendon's 12 in the second half, a poor display and a show of the side's inexperience. Jack McNamara and the rest of the CW midfield were the catalysts for CW's early dominance. Alex Crampton put in one of the few outstanding 4 quarter efforts; keeping Jim Hird to 13 possesions for the match, while collecting the same number himself. CW were once again absolutely murdered in the Inside 50's and it is obvious this is an area they'll have to work on.

Wow, embarassing loss there! Who the hell was on McPhee?

Hopefully we can lift against WC, though its going to be tough!

Happy getting another good performance in the 2s.

Crazy sport. Lead by 45 points at half-time and still lose.

Happy to notch up my first points, less happy with kicking accuracy and general style of play.

CW claim maiden victory with remarkable fightback
Willy Mammeth

CW have claimed their very first victory since forming as a club, staging a massive boilover to come from behind and defeat the reigning premiers West Coast.
The Eagles were leading by 8 goals at one stage in the 3rd term and the game seemed all but over. A few positional and structural changes were applied by the CW coaching staff to try and salvage something from the game, but the result was unexpected even by them. CW booted the last 3 goals before 3/4 time, bringing the margin within 5 goals and giving them a sniff going into the break.
The Power upped their intensity in the final term; playing in a much more attacking manner and playing on at every opportunity. The match lingered for much of the midpoint of the last quarter until CW slammed on 3 quick goals to shock the footballing world and take the lead. The last 5 minutes were anxious, with the lead changing on several occasions. The Power goaled within a couple of minutes of the final siren and were able to hold on, notching up their first win.

Power midfielders Ash Chaulk and Kane Cornes provided a solid output all day, with Alex Blackman coming on and having a huge impact on the last half of the game. The Power defense probably had their best game yet, with the key defenders holding their men and the rest providing substantial run out of the West Coast 50. The marking CW forwards were more than servicable, with Richards, Mitchell and Malone kicking 9 goals between them. The biggest positive was perhaps that every player in the 22 gave a solid contribution in some way.

Lots of work to do to make the finals, but at least we can win games. Very happy with the second half, had good cooperation with the grand dav towards the end there.
