Don't know why you'd want Tendulkar now, he's mid 30's, doesn't have much left in him. Certainly not worth Bond and Oram.
An opener who will probably make it to the next world cup (considering our schedule) who averages more than 40. NZ would KILL for them.

Then go after someone like Thuranga or AB, don't know why you'd go for someone who's best isn't in front of him.
Because Tharanga and AB aren't THAT great. In fact we may even have players that could match them. Hayden Tendulkar, maybe Jacques or Rogers, but what can we give Aus?

Meh AB is far greater then Rogers and probably better then Jaques as well.

AB had a blinder of a start but SA doesn't even let him open now.
Could have more to do with the fact they are building him up as future keeper batsmen and opening the batsmen and keeping is too much. They said a while back the only reason he isn't opening is that his long term position is down the order as a keeper batsmen. But NZ have McCullum, so they could use him as an opener.

Don't know what SA would want from us though.

No deal on that one for mine. We don't need Laxman in our middle order, whereas I think Johnson will be in our best pace attack from the end of this coming summer and will stay there for several years to come.
You'll regret this when Laxman decides he's gonna have one of those 'I don't feel like getting out today' days. :)
