I didn't point this out earlier today cause he was my next selection, but he actually played almost all of his matches opening, 45 out of 48.Was thinking of Arthur Morris actually, 7 Tests as an opener 41 in the middle order.
**** my life. This is the worst thing ever. I now have NO idea who to pick.Tough one. Tossing up a few openers and a couple of remaining star all-rounders.
Finally, I've decided on Graeme Smith. He may not be one of the all-time greats yet, but when he makes centuries, he makes BIG scores and finding an opener with that kind of record is pretty damn hard.
1. Graeme Smith LHB, Ave = 50.71, ROS - 8 wkts @ 100.12
2.
3. (Kanhai may bat here, given he had most success at #3, depending on the final line up
4. Graeme Pollock LHB, Ave = 60.97, LBG - 4 wkts @ 51.00
5. Rohan Kanhai (wk) RHB, Ave = 47.53
6.
7.
8. Peter Pollock RHB, Ave = 21.67, RHF - 116 wkts @ 24.18
9. Johnny Wardle LHB, Ave = 19.78, SLA - 102 wkts @ 20.39
10. Curtly Ambrose LHB, Ave = 12.40, RHF - 405 wkts @ 20.99
11. Frank Tyson RHB, Ave = 10.95, RHF - 76 wkts @ 18.56
Theres a ton of good openers yet to be picked, shouldnt be that hard.**** my life. This is the worst thing ever. I now have NO idea who to pick.
Pah. It sounds like you think I've been surfing StatsGuru, sorting by average and picking the top player not already picked.Statistically Heath is building probably the strongest team for mine, will be very strong in whatever sim we do, however I cant see him winning the peoples vote.
Thought you were going to go an all rounder in this round? Probably a good decision to go for an opener though tbh.Sid Barnes
I needed an opener and this is the guy for the job. He can bat from 1 to 6. In 13 test matches he scored 1072 runs @ 63.05 with 3 centuries, and in FC cricket he scored 8333 runs @ 54.11.
He is a fantastic back-to-the-wall type player, averaging 81.37 when losing the toss, and 94 in the 4th innings.
My team:
1. Sid Barnes
2.
3.
4. Brian Lara
5.
6.
7. Richard Hadlee
8. Richie Benaud
9. Ian Healy
10. Daniel Vettori
11.
