Cricket Team Draft - ODI edition

Julian87

State Captain
Dazza side:

1. Sanath Jayasuriya
2. Navjot Sidhu
3.Ricky Ponting
4.Inzamam Ul-Haq
5.Ramneresh Sarwan
6.Andy Flower (WK)
7.Adbul Razzaq
8.Daniel Vettori
9.Chaminda Vaas
10.Ajit Agarkar
11.Makhaya Ntini

12th Man: Harbhajan Singh

He still needs a 2nd spinner on spinner friendly tracks. Would play him ahead of Agarkar, but that is his call.

Vettori and Jayasuriya is a decent spin attack IMO.

Looking at his pace attack and batting line up. He will probably play on the sub continent. So three spinners might come in handy.

Also would **** up a few sides that were looking for extra spinners as the 12th man.

Not Terrible
****. I'll have to pick Jeetan Patel then, but I'm pretty disappointed at not being able to pick Bland as a fielder. It makes a huge difference to my game plan of having my bowlers rotate off for 1s and 2s in order for Bland's skill to shine though. Absolutely appalled :(

EDIT: How's about Trevor Penney? He never played an ODI as such, but I'm sure I remember him taking the field as 12th man for England in an ODI a couple of years ago?
Jeeeeeeeeets!!!!

I select Roger Harper.

I need a spinner, he has a career econ of under 4, he is a handy bat, a great fielder and a World Class cheat :)

Pskov I don't think it is your turn yet if tbh.

Matt up first, then Joe, then Simon and then your lovely self.

Not a huge fan of a concept of a twelve man, but hey, if that's what we're doing. I'd probably not change my actual XI ever, but if I did, it would be to include another spinner I can use if the conditions are right.

There's a guy who bowled a useful of slow stuff that could be handy. It helps that he was ok in the field and knew one end of a bat from another.

Garry Sobers.

Somerset

Cricketer Of The Year
I was wondering when someone was going to pick Sobers - sure, he only played one ODI and scored a duck but he fits the selection critera and there are worse players to choose...

Thought it would be taking the piss to pick him in the XI, but if nothing else, he was a gun fieldsman.

I almost picked him in the first round. Decided against it in the end because I thought it would be too controversial.

Thats GI Joes 12 hours up, so it's my pick.
For my 12th man I'm taking Anthony Stuart. The former Australian quick played three one day internationals in January 1997. He starred in his final match taking 5/26 including a hat trick, unfortunately he was never seen again. The main reason I'm picking him is due to his links with the Canberra Comets as he played a season with us in 2000
In his 3 ODI's Stuart claimed 8 wickets @ 13.62.

Final Team
1 Nick Knight (100 ODIs - 3637 runs @ 40.41 sr 71.52)
