The greatness of Jimmy Anderson certainly deserves a thread........in fact it probably deserves 2 threads. How good is Jimmy Anderson?
Hussey had to work much harder than Dougy even in his junior days, based on his autobiography. Dougy was basically ear marked as the next Bradman from the time he was a teenager. He also had about two years out of the game in Nashos, as well as the two wsc years. So while he had a 16 or so year career, he basically lost four of them.TBH, the Doug Walters and Mike Hussey comparison is an interesting one.
Hussey was known as Mr Cricket for his dedication to the game, his commitment to training and getting everything right for the game. Doug evidently warmed up by having a dart and throwing a dart into the dart board.
Also interesting to note that Dougy debuted at 20 while Hussey had to wait til he was 30. Yet Hussey played more tests than Doug in an 8 year test career compared to a 16 year one.
"Australian Test cricket" was the first specialist subject on the BBC quiz Mastermind last night.
Nice. I did about the same as the bloke which is faintly embarrassing for him.12 (didn't know how many balls it took Warner to score the fastest Australian Test 50). I thought a lot of them were pretty easy.
(Minor correction - it was actually "Australian Test cricket 1945-").
Neither did I, though I found it a little spooky that my guess was the same as the bloke on the show12 (didn't know how many balls it took Warner to score the fastest Australian Test 50). I thought a lot of them were pretty easy.

yeah, that's why he's bowling at Test cricketers in the nets at Lords"I am not interfering in his career because I think it is not fair," Sachin told Economic Times in April 2016. "He has to have freedom to express himself. I can guide him. Not on a regular basis, but when I feel that he needs to be told something, then I do. I don't take his class every evening when he comes back home. I do not want to lecture, but let him enjoy the game and fall in love with cricket, which he is (doing). I have told him things about hard work like any father would.
"Unfortunately, he has the excess baggage of his surname and I know that is going to be there. It is not easy for him. For me, it was different as my father was a writer and nobody questioned me on cricket. I feel that my son should not be compared to me and should be judged for who he is."
Why does he think the role of the media is to help Bangladesh win more, ffs?Mushfiqur said:There has been a lot of talk about Imrul, Sabbir and Soumya. While criticism is acceptable, please don't do it unnecessarily as they will go further into their comfort zone. If they can't perform, Bangladesh will lose more.
Mushfiqur, however, didn't respond whether he would also consider a break, only saying: "I haven't become such a big player that I will need a break."
And the week after that, the fourth specialist subject was Lancashire County Cricket Club. This time some of the questions seemed pretty obscure, although not the two the contestant passed on."Australian Test cricket" was the first specialist subject on the BBC quiz Mastermind last night.
