Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

TBH, the Doug Walters and Mike Hussey comparison is an interesting one.

Hussey was known as Mr Cricket for his dedication to the game, his commitment to training and getting everything right for the game. Doug evidently warmed up by having a dart and throwing a dart into the dart board.

Also interesting to note that Dougy debuted at 20 while Hussey had to wait til he was 30. Yet Hussey played more tests than Doug in an 8 year test career compared to a 16 year one.
Hussey had to work much harder than Dougy even in his junior days, based on his autobiography. Dougy was basically ear marked as the next Bradman from the time he was a teenager. He also had about two years out of the game in Nashos, as well as the two wsc years. So while he had a 16 or so year career, he basically lost four of them.

Wandered into Berkelouw Books today and bought a second-hand 1982 edition of 'The Larwood Story' for $8.50.

When I eventually opened the front cover I found a signature- 'Harold Larwood'. So I got on-line and compared it to the signatures that I found by Google. Sure enough the handwriting was identical.

So now I have a book about Larwood with Harold's actual signature in it by accident.

12 (didn't know how many balls it took Warner to score the fastest Australian Test 50). I thought a lot of them were pretty easy.

(Minor correction - it was actually "Australian Test cricket 1945-").
Neither did I, though I found it a little spooky that my guess was the same as the bloke on the show

"I am not interfering in his career because I think it is not fair," Sachin told Economic Times in April 2016. "He has to have freedom to express himself. I can guide him. Not on a regular basis, but when I feel that he needs to be told something, then I do. I don't take his class every evening when he comes back home. I do not want to lecture, but let him enjoy the game and fall in love with cricket, which he is (doing). I have told him things about hard work like any father would.

"Unfortunately, he has the excess baggage of his surname and I know that is going to be there. It is not easy for him. For me, it was different as my father was a writer and nobody questioned me on cricket. I feel that my son should not be compared to me and should be judged for who he is."
 yeah, that's why he's bowling at Test cricketers in the nets at Lords

On a slightly lesser stage, Burgeinho had his Green Shield selection confirmed this arvo. Now fingers crossed for grade.

Yeah, can't be easy having the pressure of that family name hanging over you, but it also opens up opportunities that others just don't get. He played for Brondesbury iirc in the Middlesex league this year, couldn't make their firsts so played seconds (who got relegated) and he was pretty average. Word from my clubmates who played against him was that he was a decent young player but nothing special; didn't stop him being involved with the MCC Young Cricketers, bowling at test teams in the nets etc though.

Gotta love this though

Mushfiqur, however, didn't respond whether he would also consider a break, only saying: "I haven't become such a big player that I will need a break."

Currently having a FB tete-a-tete with Burgeinho over a memory which popped up from last year when we opened the batting together and I ran him out for one.

I maintain he didn't back up, he says a call of "Yes, No, Sorry" wasn't up to the mark
