They already put the limited overs and part of the Big Bash on pay tv because they could pay themselves bonuses for a sghly bigger deal. Do you think they care? The idea of long-term thinking is absolutely dead in today's world.
Yeah, they had their own monetary target and hit it at all costs. The good of the game wasn't a factor. Cunnies, the lot of them.

Graham Onions has retired aged 37 due to a back injury. Above average County bowler. Was part of an England Ashes win, which puts him one up on a few more famous predecessors.

Mitch Claydon apparently in bother for applying hand sanitiser to the ball - I had wondered when that one would happen

Part II is a great read.

Love these stories of cricketers who come from nowhere and have been through more than what most of us can comprehend.

Though of course in this case that only makes his subsequent mistakes even more disappointing.

Austria Women vs. Mali Women would be a good match IMO

TIL Jim Laker's wife was Austrian. She met him in North Africa after fleeing Vienna before the war, and didn't know much about cricket. The evening he took 19-90 she had to take a lot of phone calls and asked him "Jim, did you do something good today?".

What % is that of their payroll workforce?
Looking at the financial statements for the year ended 31 Jan 2020, they averaged 379 employees so about 16%

There's 39 cricketers who they employ who you imagine aren't losing their jobs, so about 18% excluding them

Whatever it takes!!!
That is a sizeable cut even though I would assume they did pretty well to get as much cricket staged as they did this season.

Had a good laugh at Botham running Boycott out on purpose in a 1978 test vs NZ

You'd think a new young player doing this to his captain would end his career, shows how special Botham was ;)

I recall reading somewhere that Boycott remembered all of his dismissals and refused to play the shots that led to them again. Didn't leave him with too many scoring strokes.
