Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

TIL Jamie Siddons played 2 games for the Sydney Swans in the mid 80's whilst playing Shield cricket in the summer. Rather interesting.

Simon O'Donnell played 24 for StKilda, the last of which was in 83.
Nice. I heard a rumour that O'Donnell couldn't break into the Aus test team on a regular basis cause he was shagging one of the selectors' ex-wives! Not sure if it's true or not.

I've never heard that one. But he was Victorian, so that made his job considerably harder.

Warner is a stereotypical bully. He dishes it out but had a very thin skin and can't take it back.

But. In this case the person who sledged him may have been more important than anything else. Given it was Phil Hughes' brother, the sledge may have brought up memories and feelings from that dreadful day in 2014. Given everyone is being tight lipped about it in willing to cut Warner a tiny bit of slack on this one. Even the de Kock altercation didn't see Warner acting on anything until he was off field.

Yeah, there is something being kept back in this incident. I don't know what was said, but the effect would almost certainly have been amplified by who it was who said it. On the flip side, I wonder about the perspective of Philip Hughes's brother in this case what with Warner having been involved in the situation of Hughes's death.

Initially my mind leapt to the possibility that the sledge was something along the lines of what Phil would have thought of Warner's actions. It would explain Warner's huge reaction to it but it's a bit hard to believe that Hughes would have said something involving his late brother in that way so I think it's very unlikely.

I can't think of what it could have been though to invoke such a response from Warner. Maybe something Sonny Bill related

It happened when they were walking of the field.... Warner reacted instantly.

Even Warner's wife is going on about crossing the line. He'll get even more of it after this display.
Course he will, I'm not an advocate for that but gee whiz - to storm off a field because someone says you shouldn't be allowed to play cricket (and I kinda agree, if you're banned you're banned) after the years of abuse you've given out, holy ****. That's dumb even for him. I can't think of anyone else that plays cricket the way he does on the international stage so hopefully if we rid the game of him, we'll be able to get on without too much of this crap.

Although the bright point of this all is probably the best facebook comment I've ever seen. 'The scorecard should've said Warner: retired hurt (feelings) - 8.

He's had enough chances to change as well. Punching Joe Root, the South Africa stuff (where he could've asked "what can I do to stop this stuff?") and this ban. Yet he doesn't change. It's time to give up on him in this regard and decide whether his behaviour can be tolerated for the rest of his potential career.

It makes her even more angry that Smith copped the same length of ban as Warner. Warner is a disruptive force in the dressing room, the mastermind of all the stupidity and a class A bully - can dish it out but can't take it.

A year ago we all thought he had changed. Then for some reason he started acting like a jerk again around the ashes.

I think it's concerning that his wife said he wouldn't change his style when he comes back.

I know batting stocks are thin, and I wasn't sure what to think, but I'm sure of it now. Australian cricket does not need David Warner. And David Warner does not need Australian cricket, to play like a tough **nt.
