A cricket fashion I liked was M.Waugh wearing a cap while bowling.

Putting the collar up has been around for at least 25 years, we do it to prevent our necks from getting sunburnt.

Yes. I can confirm from 1961 onwards from the time I first saw Jaisimha. He never had his collars down.
