You can do it, it's just a bit more realistic and harder to hit six after six after six. Personally, I've found the easiest way to smash quick runs is to slog anything slightly full over mid-on/mid-wicket.
DUDE! Have you got it?

Bought the game on PC today, and in all fairness i think it's not that bad so far but a few that have annoyed me so far are:

1. The fielders throw the ball funny
2. All the fast bowlers have a sling-shotty action
3. Keeper's perform slow and jerky stumpings (Although i do like how not all stumping chances are out - unlike in 2004)

That's all that i can remember now but i'll post more later

My system config is Windows 98 SE, 128 MB ram, 8mb video memory(i think Intel 82845), lots of HDD space...Will Cricket 2004 and 2005 work?

I tried to install Cricket 2004(PC) and mid-way thru the installation it says ' insert disk0..data3.cab file is missing'..Now whats the solution?

I bought the game on PS2 yesterday. It is better than all the previous editions as it is not funny and not only the graphics but gameplay is also good.I managed to score only 27 runs playing in dry conditions in a 10 over game.I remember I scored more than a 100 playing for the first time in Cricket 2004 in same conditions.Unlike in Cricket 2004,U need to fill up your confidence meter in order to play your shots accurately and the tailenders don't hit sixes straight on.There r a few bugs in fielding and commentary but its a good game overall. It is 8.1/10,IMO.

None of the above cricket games will work on your system. Here r the minimum system requirements for both games.

Cricket 2004:P II 500,64MB Ram(128 MB for Windows 2000/XP),32 MB video card with latest drivers and DirectX 8.1

Cricket 2005:700 MHz Intel Pentium III or equivalent
128 MB of RAM (256 MB for Windows 2000 and Windows XP)
DirectX 9.0c compatible 3D accelerated 32 MB video card or equivalent
331 MB free HDD space
32X Speed CD-ROM/DVD-ROM
DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher
MS-compatible mouse
Keyboard
Required Operating Systems:Windows 98 SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000, or Windows XP
Note that Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 are not supported.

The solution is to update your system or buy a PS2/Xbox.

score most of my runs through the back foot cover drive and the back foot hip glance, as well as the on drive. Again, it may be because I play it on normal.... but perhaps maybe you should just play it on normal....
Play it on hard, come back and talk to me. :)

Yeah i agree, As soon as i bought it i played it on Easy and it so unrealistic but then i played a full 50 over game on hard and it was brilliant

u'll have to buy a new one in order to upgrade but its memory should be atleast 64mb for smooth texture processing.A good 64mb card would be around RS 2000 in your country.I also recommend u to upgrade your RAM to 512mb atleast.

Cricket 2004 didn't work on ur system probably because of a CD error (is it a pirated copy?).

and I would recomend u to upgrade ur whole system or buy a new one as it may be cheaper than upgrading. the reason is the Celeron proccessor is not equipped to process large amounts of data which is needed for playing games. even though ur speed is 1.7Ghz a pentium III 800Mhz can do better than the Celeron. I think the reason for this is that the Celeron proccessor doesn't have the math co-proccessor in-built as in the pentium series.

Very harsh IMO.

Especially about the batting - it will get easier as you play it more.

Might depend on the format. On PC batting never gets any better.

That's not to say that you (the user) don't improve, but slogging over long on or long off is incredibly easy when you have timing right.

Over one - McGrath to Trescothick

Defensive shot, Defensive shot, cover drive (4), Six - Six - Six

Over 2 Lee to Strauss

Defensive shot, Defensive shot, cover drive (4), Six - Six - Six

This is on HARD level !!

Tresco can hit 4 sixes an over with ease. Got his first hundred in the second game I played off 31 balls - on HARD level.

But. Clip off legs (no run), Drive along ground (no run EVER)

I can safelty say that, in amassing 1000+ runs (in total, over maybe 6 games) on HARD level, i've scored about 25 singles, 10 2's and absolutely no three's. Hitting on the ground is totally fruitless (other than the "Vaughan-esqe" cover drive). Average run rate is in double figures after the first over. Typically score 150 in 15-20 overs then declare. Bowl tight off stump line for over after over (CPU unable to score) bowl out Aus for perhaps 35 (Yes on HARD) - then wish I'd scored 50 odd more so I could enforce the follow on.

Won games in a day - though it's back in Game now on the trade in shelf. They are asking £19.99 for it.

Even at that price, some poor sod is being ripped off.

Rubbish game, lots of shots available - lots of variety in balls to bowl - absolutely no need to play them - in fact they do nothing so why bother ?

Graphics are rubbish as well, I'd rather have good cartoon stylee than disjointed ~"real" colours, with every team full of Mike Gattings and Darren "Buff" Lehmenn sumo style fat blokes.

Please let BLC be better....

Hmm, these are disappointing comments. Batting sounds like it has got worse than in EAC2004. I'm not gonna buy a game just for the bowling. There must be some parts of the game which are enjoyable???

Just about to the letter, that's been my experience which I've been saying all along. Just like you, slogging down the ground is ridiculously easy when you figure out the timing but shots along the ground other than the cover drive are totally wasted. Like you, I've played every game on Hard too and especially with making it impossible for the CPU to score by bowling a consistent off-stump line, mate that's just uncanny.

Thanks for backing me up. :) Maybe it is a PC thing?

Sad really, I thought EA were going forward with 2002. The options seemed good in 2004, the playability was just not realised though.

Thought they would have corrected that in this game (even re-releasing 2004 again with better AI, bugfixes and improved ball physics would have been a massive improvement on this game)

Also the "after release" service from EA is....well always non existant. A web site that is basically an advert for the game and a link to where you can buy it ..considering the bugs in the game from day one, that simply was not acceptable. May well be the same here I fear.

Lets see eh....

Ea seem to pride themselves on 'accuracy', but one thing that really gets me is the lack of stadiums. ONLY 35!!!! a cut of 40! i dont think its very acurate that if you play a test series in Sri Lanka you have to play all of them in the SAME ground. not very realistic.

^^^^ I'm surprised they've included even one stadium for SL.
It's like they're saying: 'we know SL plays cricket, but we can't really bother about them.'

Yeah thats true. I liked the fact that there was many different stadiums in 2004- 3 from Sri-Lanka (Kandy, Columbo and something else).

Perfect. The only other along the ground shots i have got runs are;
Leg glance to yorker gets you one
Pull gets 4 wen you hit it but theres about 1/100 chance that you actualy hit the ball.
A ridiculous shot played to spin using W and right (if you are right handed) that goes
so fine that 3rd man/fine leg feels obliged to LEAVE the ball after walking a few paces
and let it roll over the boundary.

I hope BLIC is far improved and you can work the ball easily for ones and twos rather than hit pathetic shots to fielders to get your eye in and then blastt it out of the ground using a variety of 3 slogs.
