Cosgrove-In the team now, or wait until he gets off his ****.

Cosgrove has been making a shitload of runs, and would probably deserve a spot in the team, however, he is a fat *******, so should Australia put him into the team now, or weight until he slims down a bit?

Fatness isn't the major issue - there's just no room for him in the team. He'll command a spot without question when Langer and Hayden both retire, though.

Cosgrove this season:

ING Cup - 3rd in runs, 452 @ 90.40, two 100s, three 50s
Pura Cup - 3rd in runs, 574 @ 82.00, one 100, four 50s

Probably the best batsman this season along with Lehmann and Jaques, all round.

In his career, he averages 41.18 in FC, and 34.70 in List A. And he's only 21.

Mark Cosgrove

Despite what Darren Lehmann says, there is no way Cosgrove should be in the team now. He's only 21! Give him a couple more years in first class cricket and yes, his fitness should be improved.

Cosgrove shouldn't make the team right now, but he should definately make the World Cup squad, and would be an ideal ODI opener when Gilchrist retires.

Where do you think is his best position, he seems to have batted all over the place for SA. For me i think he would end up opening the batting for Australia once Langer and Hayden retire and also partner Jaques in the ODI side. But i think he is a better middle order batsmen.

To answer the question there isn't a spot for him now, but once some players either loss form or retire there will be a spot for him.

He's definately a born ODI opener. I don't know about tests really, it's probably going to be a while before he gets a real shot at the test side, but I'd have him as a middle order player, most likely. Particularly with Langer, Hayden and Jaques likely to have the test opening spots covered for a few years.

i dont think weight has anything to do with it. If he can make truckloads of runs like he is now, then it's obviously not hindering him.

Inzi is one of the best batsman in test cricket atm, and he's over weight. Boon was overweight. And there's plenty more.

gonna have to disagree here, the WC may be a bit too soon for him because i really cant see who he would be picked in front of.
