Decided to pick a grafter to see off the new ball so the middle order and tail can flourish:

Bill Lawry

Bill Lawry (Australasia)
Gordon Greenidge (Americas)
Wally Hammond (Europe)
Neil Harvey (Australasia)
Greg Chappell (Australasia)
Rishabh Pant (Asia) wk
Aubrey Faulkner (Africa)
Shaun Pollock (Africa)
Wasim Akram (Asia)
Jim Laker (Europe)
Ian Bishop (Americas)

Very happy - this deep batting order with Wasim at 9 has a good mix of left and right handers with different styles and temperaments. The 6-man bowling attack has a mix of pace, bounce, height, swing, metronomic accuracy along with different angles (including the left-arm GOAT) plus a great offspinner and a very useful leggie. Chappell and Harvey can also bowl if required. The team is full of leaders with many having captained their countries.

International Coach
Peter May be the best pick here.

@Teuton

How would others organise this middle order?

1 Sunil Gavaskar /
2 Eddie Barlow / o
3 Ken Barrington /
4 Javed Miandad /
5 Dudley Nourse /
6 Peter May /
7 Alan Knott + /
8 Malcolm Marshall o /
9 Clarrie Grimmett o
10 Dennis Lillee o
11 Michael Holding o

Not greatly inspiring to have three 60s Poms, but the ***y 70s crew does rebalance that.

May only played 7 of his 66 Tests in the 60s, and Knott only 18 out of 95.

International Regular
Since L&L can only pick a European cricketer , I'll just finish now with my Asian pick,
Mushtaq Mohammad (Asia)
