The greatest opener named his kid after Rohan Babulall Kanhai.

And he’s from a village close to mine in Berbice…but Something about the Supercat that takes him over in this comparison

Lloyd was arguabably the best batsman in test cricket during my early days of watching the game (him or Greg Chappell, I suppose), whereas most of Kanhai's career was before my time. So I'd have to vote for Supercat as the better batsman. IIRC they had a great partnership during the 1975 WC Final which may be worth checking out. I would only add that Kanhai's tenure as WI captain during the earlyish 1970s is greatly under-rated, and the side's first signs of recovery under his tenure set things up nicely for Lloyd and the new generation of worldies that emerged after Kanhai was deposed.

Kanhai was more of a specialist #3 and had a greater burden as he had to come in early due to a lack of solid openers.
Plus he had the admiration of CLR James
Plus his falling hook shot
Close contest, but those are enough to tip my vote

Correction, Hunte was a solid opener, he just didn't have a reliable partner.
