Clarke quits as T20 captain

NUFAN

Y no Afghanistan flag
Not the worst choice tbh. He's actually got quite a good T20 record - hit 70 off about 50 the other day and wasn't timing them at all.
Haha yeah but that was against Saj ****ING Mahmood and Mick Lewis!

Having said that, I like Paine, I'm guessing he'll open the bat with Warner, hopefully he doesn't feel as though his job is to just give the strike back to his opening partner.

CAMERON WHITE CAPTAINCY REPORT

On the 7th of January 2011 Michael Clarke answered the prayers of many and finally quit as captain of the Australian T20 team. Clarke had never put up the performances to deserve selection in T20 and for many his continued selection was an insult to the fine institution of T20 cricket. Quitting and allowing a new captain meant Australia's bid to win the 2012 T20 World Cup, The Final Frontier as it has been dubbed, would be much improved. Michael Clarke's replacement was obvious, and on the same day Cameron White was named as the new captain. A Victorian with strong leadership abilities Cameron White was also noted for his strong hitting which led to him becoming one of the finest T20 players in the world. However, as the following statistics show, White has done nothing to disprove the theory that becoming T20 captain of Australia means becoming **** at T20 cricket.

In the 16 T20 matches Cameron White has played in since the 7th Jan he averages a mere 18.1 with a top score of 43. Amazingly enough this top score of 43 happened on the 8th Jan, after being named T20 captain of Australia, but before actually making his debut as T20 captain, on the 12th Jan. During this time White has often struggled to hit the big shots he was once famed for and has often batted below a Strike rate of 100%, seen as below par. This was in particular on show at the 2011 IPL, where the world's finest come to display their talent. Frankly, Cameron White performed so poorly there that the reputation of Australia was harmed.

As noted above, becoming T20 captain and turning to **** is not a new thing. Ricky Ponting was usually poor at T20 and no-one cried when he quit, and when Michael Clarke was batting opposition teams often remarkably attempted to keep him in, instead of dismissing him. However in what must be a worry to all, Cameron White's performances in the two other, poorer, forms of cricket have also declined. Since the 7th of Jan in List A cricket White averages 21.75, with a high score 45. Many of those matches were played for Australia, where along with Jason Krejza and Shaun Tait he accepted money from Indian bookmakers to help lose the 2011 WC QF. In those 14 ODI's for Aus he averaged 21.80. White has since been dropped from the Australian OD team. Due to his duties as Australian T20 captain White has only played 3 FC matches since taking the job, but he averages 26.25 in them, a notable improvement on his List A record. His high score in those 6 innings is 36 and according to those we have interviewed, if he was not captain of Victoria he would have probably been dropped by now.

As you the reader know, Cricket Australia commissioned this report to help decide whether Cameron White should keep his job as T20 captain despite his poor form. As we have researched and conducted interviews it has become become abundantly clear that there is a curse on the position of T20 captain of Australia, and with each new appointee the curse seems to become stronger, and spread further throughout the appointee's life. Not only did Michael Clarke perform poorly as a player, he of course suffered relationship troubles during his tenure as captain. Meanwhile Ricky Ponting informed us during his interview that he encountered problems with his golf swing during his time as captain. With this in mind it is therefore is our recommendation that Cameron White indeed keep his job as T20 captain. It is worth remembering Cameron White was never really that good anyway, and it's better he suffers poor form and serious health problems than say Shane Watson.

just more tasmanian bias from the selectors really

obviously they don't want make someone who plays all 3 forms captain 'cause it means they can't rest them so that rules out watson, maybe warner and mussey. so i would make big ben rohrer captain

WHITE

Pros:
Has at one point shown himself to be a good T20 player

Cons:
Is currently in one of the greatest career descents ever; Victorian

BAILEY:

Pros:
Good leader

Cons:
Is ****; will be moved to 5-6 after batting 3-4 all through his t20 career where he'll be even ****ter

Warner

Pros:
Is good

Cons:
Don't want to give a good cricketer the T20 captaincy curse

Klinger:
Pros: Is a good t20 player, leadership

Cons:
Got enough openers

Steven Smith/Steve O'Keefe:
ahahahahahahahaha

Dussey:
Probably the best option actually

adub

International Captain
I don't mind that suggestion of giving the captaincy to Binga. At least as a stop gap until Watson is fit. I just have a sneaking suspicion he'd do the job really well.

The idea of putting Bailey in the side let alone making him captain would almost rehabilitate Hilditch's reputation in one go.

Sylvester

State Captain
What would you pick your T20 squad as?
Warner
Marsh
Birt
Dussey
Smith/Finch
Wade
Mitch Marsh
SOK
NCN
McDermott
Starc

Hogg will be in the WC squad, don't see the need to play him for these meaningless games as we all know what he can do. Likewise Hussey and probably Nannes and Lee.

Bailey (c), Warner (vc), Birt, Christian, Doherty, Faulkner, Finch, Hogg, D.Hussey, Lee, M.Marsh, S.Marsh, Mckay, Wade

Don't like Doherty in over Beer, Lyon, even Smith. He's got a pretty lousy really in T20. Bailey obviously a disaster. No point picking Lee. Nev was robbed. 14 man squad a bit overboard really.
