I think I'm calling it "Pulling Together".

Right, it's now finished, and it stands at 127 pages, and 34,817 words. It's taken me 4,595 minutes to write it (thats 77 hours and 35 minutes), and I think it's pretty damn good.

Now to get the thing published.

Ok, neil. page 33.

Daniel had overheard the boys’ conversation, and as Robin left Lewis in one direction, he caught up with his friend from the other. ‘Don’t take it personal.’

Well I've a got a few in my head to consider - mainly off-shoots of Random House who have published kids' sports books before. Most of them want one chapter sending to them so I have to decide which the strongest of the eight is.

Oh, entirely unrelatedly, have any Aussies heard of the Toby Jones series - The Magic Cricket Almanack, and the Secret of the Missing Scorecard? Stumbled across them on t'internet the other night. The best description I found was... "Toby Jones and his classmates go to the MCG archives on a school excursion and there they meet the old and wise caretaker at the library, Jim Oldfield. Jim is amazed when he realises that Toby has 'the gift' - Toby can see numbers and words whirl on the pages of old Wisdens, which means that he has the potential to travel back in time to cricket matches. With cricketing tips by Australian fast bowling legend, Brett Lee."

We've now got a plot for a sequel thought out.

I really need to get something else to fill my life with...

First bit of feedback from a "target age range" (nine year old) kid (upper bit is from the guy who forwarded the book to several families):
Hi Neil,

I’ve received the following comment from the youngest lad who read the book.

I am still waiting for the others to get back to me ‘officially’ with their comments. I can say that all have thoroughly enjoyed reading it and have not had anything critical to say about it (mind you, I’m not entirely sure whether that helps you!).

Cheers,

Thank you Phil. I have read the book and it is very interesting. I think that it suits my age. I would reccomend it to lots of cricket fans. I couldn't stop reading once I had started
Can't be a bad thing...
