I'm inclined to agree. I can see the point SS is making, let he who is without sin & all that.
That was Benaud's All Time XI, if anyone noticed. I'm just saying that people are now including players who were never proven of cheating but may have cheated. So by that logic, considering no one is perfect, I am sure that once during the decades that they played cricket...they did something that would strictly go against the letter or the spirit of the law. Thus, they are all cheaters. And if everyone is a cheater, then your cheater XI might as well be the same as an all time XI.

SilentStriker :- Please Take Sir Don's name out of this list and Dont even mention his name in this kind of thread ever.

Prove to me he never cheated in the three-four (?) decades that he played cricket.

He did something I county cricket a while back, I think. Ask one of the poms.

And McKern, get out.
Claimed a catch with one foot over the boundary rope, I think. It was against Derbyshire too &, unfortunately, Lucky Eddie remains in therapy to this day, still unable to fully cope with the trauma.

You should only ever try and prove positives in any form on endevour.

I cannot prove that the tooth fairy doesnt exist or the Loch Ness monster isnt real or that we are not all descended from alien DNA. Just because I cant disprove those claims wrong does not make them correct. The burden of proof is always on those that make claims not on those that do not believe them.

Cronje, Waqar, Pringle, Imran, Warne, Jedeja etc have all either been caught cheating or admitted to it and that is far different than lumping all cricketers in with them.

IIRC, he actually took the catch inside the boundary and, depending on who you believe:
a) carried the ball over the boundary before he had "complete control both over the ball and over his own movements", like the law states <quack>
b) once steadying himself, thus making sure he had complete control, ran over the boundary to celebrate with the lovely people of Leicestershire, grad a quick VB, and pick a couple of pockets.

Fine line...

Xuhaib - would you mind answering two questions ?

a. Do you consider ball Tampering as Cheating ?
b. Do you believe that Waqar Tampered with the ball ?
Ans a) I consider ball tampering cheating.

Ans b) Waqar was caught on camera like Sachin and Dravid so yes he did tamper with the ball. Its not that i am not accepting he was never caught its just that i am a bit irritated that people over hear are belittling(sp?) his performances though i must admit Goughy has said that he enjoyed watching Waqar but few others are coming up with stupid comments like " Smith and Pringle said he cheated so he must have cheated ",c'mon atleast come up with better explination to back up your comments.

As for why i did not have Waqar in my cheats XI thats because just like every great wont make any particuar individua'sl world XI in the same way not all the so called cheats will not make every body cheats XI, for me Chris Pringle would be a more valid member of cheats XI because when i hear his name that incident is the first thing that comes in my mind but when i hear Waqar's name first thing that comes to my mind will be his terrific record and then all the other controversies he was involved in.

Good grief. And you call some of our comments stupid?

So now we're basing cheats on what the first thing is that comes into our mind when we think of a player?

Why don't you rename it the "Common Word Association Game XI"?

This thread is fantastic :)

I can see SS's point. It made me laugh.

One thing's for sure, Ponting would choose Fletcher as the coach

You will pick any team on who you thing fits the stated criteria the best.

Cheats XI

Well someone had to do it.

1 Kenneth Lay (Enron enough said)
2 Amarillo Slim (Poker and gambling set-ups)
3 Stella Walsh (1932 won Olympic Womans 100m for Poland and upon death was found out to be a man)
4 Tanya Harding (Well if having someone attempt to break your main competitors legs isnt cheating I don't know what is)
5 Rosi Ruiz (Got a lift for 25 miles of 1980 Boston Marathon)
6 Diego Maradona (Hand of God) CAPT Wkt
7 Robert Mugabe (Election fraud and voter intimidation) ROS
8 David Beckham (Infidelity) RAM
9 Ben Johnson (Performance Enhancing Drugs) RAF
10 Boris Onishchenko (Button in handle of his fencing sword that closed the sensor circuit and registered a hit) RLS
11 Andrew Golota (Repeatedly hit other boxers below the belt) RAF

There you all go, a list without Waqar, Pringle, Warne or Murali. End of controversy :)
